tracks from the first 5 albums that received no votes:
Devo Corporate AnthemCold WarSoft ThingsThe Super ThingOut of SyncPattensDeep Sleep
Cold War and Out of Sync were two of the last things I cut from my ballot, I probably would have found room for them if I'd known

thanks again to everyone who voted!
Not too surprised at the (deserving) winner, my #2.
Great poll, soref, thanks for running this one!

Nice one, all of my tracks were in the Top 40 somewhere or other... which must mean something, don't know what... oops, all of my tracks but one.

Great poll soref. Thanks for running it.
Uncontrollable Urge is a great song and a worthy winner but I did hope Smart Patrol might be number one. It's one of my favourite songs ever. This live performance is ridiculously exciting https://youtu.be/0UKtZwWLMp8

Now regretting not voting for Watch Us Work It, not that another vote would've gotten it in the top 40. As far as comeback singles go, that one's way up there.
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Monday, 18 July 2016 01:25 (seven years ago) link
I'm not so keen on Watch Us Work It, partly because it's a reworking of an Oh No era track called Part Of You which is much better imo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkB-ssGU00o
I do like their performance of Watch Us Work It they performed on Yo Gabba Gabba though, and prefer this arrangement to the single version

I think the only album that had zero votes for any of its tracks (unless you count Adventures of the Smart Patrol) was Something Else for Everybody which is a shame as it's good, maybe better than Something for Everybody. (there is some good stuff on Something for Everybody though, especially Later Is Now and Fresh)

Since we're just posting stuff now, wanted to re-rep for "Faster and Faster", one of my all-time favorites, if anything too low on my ballot. Working an underexplored lonely conventioneer tech-noir angle that suits Devo all too well. Plus catchy as heck:

Faster, faster...
In this hour of darknessJust before I say goodbyeSmoke a teflon cigaretteI chew my cyanide CloretsI write down a fake confessionAnd I send it off to you
You did it
Swim up the riverShoot them my headBury the hatchetIn the fertile riverbed
Drive my car over a cliffSee myself lying deadThey tortured meWith the cable tv
In this hour of darknessEverything's turned grayNow it's time for all good thingsTo pass away
Don't ask me why, why, whyWe all must go, go, go go go
You did it, faster
Now the tears run from my eyesBut it seems like there's no running from the liesMy heart, my poor heart plays tricks on my mind

This poll followed the same pattern as the Van Halen poll - every song from the 1978 debut album makes Top 40*, nothing makes Top 40 from any album post-'84 (Van Halen) or '82 (Devo)
*(in Van Halen's case one song made #41)
― Josefa, Monday, 18 July 2016 02:16 (seven years ago) link
Correction: I think about three Van Halen songs post '84 made their list, something like that
― Josefa, Monday, 18 July 2016 02:17 (seven years ago) link
Faster and Faster is great, I couldn't find room for it on my ballot but it's impressive that it managed to pick up three votes considering its relative obscurity. I think it was recorded around the time of the Oh No It's Devo album (it seems to have evolved into Luv-Luv which came out in 1983, so it must be before that), you're right about underexplored, it feels like another direction they could have gone in as they moved into the mid-80s, but didn't

Jocko Homo was my #1, so I don't know if my ballot got left out, or just the first place marker got forgotten. Either way, I don't think it changes the results much. Thanks for running it!
― Vinnie, Monday, 18 July 2016 06:15 (seven years ago) link
gah, sorry - I forgot to add the first place marker, the only first place for Jocko Homo. Your ballot was definitely included though!

I've been delving into deep Devo cuts for this and this Newbeats cover is by far the worst pre-90s Devo song I have ever heard
