I know the owner, and he said the term comes from his business partner, who would suggest, whenever faced with a problem, that they just shoot it with the moneygun.

The 20th works for me. I did have a conflict but I decided to take 3 days off work that week to make it happen. However you'll probably be disappointed if it's just me. Need to recruit more interesting people.

shakey, my wife and I stayed at the Virgin and it was great. protip, during their social hour from 7-8 every night, all drinks at The Commons Club bar (on the second floor i believe?) are totally free for hotel guests. we had three cocktails each on the house.

Jesus Christ the violence in this city. And it's almost all seemingly random and impulsive. I'm pretty sad and frustrated and in search of solutions other than decades of systemic change, which of course will take, well, decades. A kid from our local high school was shot and killed on a street corner Monday night, and I'm honestly torn. It's heartbreaking and I plan to attend his vigil tonight, but at the same time (ugh) aren't there better places to be than hanging with a friend on the corner on on the west side of Chicago after 10pm on a school night? Is there even such a thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time? He should have been at home. It's all so senseless.

I feel dorky posting this after Josh's post above, but any other ILXors going to the Lush and/or Belly concerts at The Vic this weekend? I'm coming into town for both shows.

my cousin and his family live in Oak Park and it sounds pretty great. they love it. they send us real estate listings for beautiful Oak Park Victorians all the time.

Thank you for reminding me of why we were so into the idea of Oak Park in the first place. There are SO MANY neighborhoods/towns that it's easy to get overwhelmed by everything. Good to know about Forest Park - I'll definitely look into that as well.

There's a new Collectivo Coffee (Milwaukee chain) at Clark and Wrightwood that is pretty great. All-day breakfast wraps, good coffee, lots of outdoor seats.

I'm trying to remember what the place I went to for breakfast in these parts yeeears ago was. Maybe some cajun-style stuff with red beans? probably not a place anymore. I may check out that coffee place, thanks for the recommendation!
