there's been a dramatic drop-off in quality in the stuff I've written but that is largely due to pulling my life in 500 different directions, 200 of which are outside the solar system and 250 of which are in hell

FWIW, I haven't noticed a drop-off in the quality of the work of writers I already admire. The main qualm for me is probably less prominence on the homepage for track reviews. Tracks now only seem to appear as news items which I think makes it a little harder to keep up with newer stuff.

i don't know how it works at pitchfork but if you see a video on a website that you don't like it's safe to assume that it was made by an entirely separate staff of people from the one that makes the website you enjoy reading

that dad rock video isn't that bad. pointless and not really worth watching but pretty accurate.

i looked at something yesterday on there and it was all about someone who may or may not have ripped some guy's song off for an apple ad and then it turned out that the guy who may have been ripped off had done apple ads and they had these pictures of apple billboards and videos of apple commercials and and all of a sudden i went heeeeeeeeyyyyyyy wait a minute did apple pay for this? it was a pretty non-news story that said the word Apple 5 million times.

yeah i remember i never heard anyone pronounce Bon Iver until he was on The Grammys and everyone on twitter was like "who's Bonnie Bear?"

yeah i used to check it every day, even after i stopped writing for the site, but now it just feels like navigating a maze of shit i don't really care about to get to anything i might care about.

this is a very uncharitable interpretation of a story (with actual reporting! it's sad that this is not common) that doesn't reflect well on apple. it mentions Shamir just as often -- did Shamir pay for the story too? your post mentions apple a lot -- did apple pay for that too?
