tbf, Maron seems like the ur-demographic for Guitar Aficianado.

One thing's for sure, they're guys.

Louie Anderson episode is great. Lots of old Comedy Store talk and Rodney stories.

Rodney stories >>> Lorne stories.

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 14 June 2016 08:43 (seven years ago) link

Yes, that episode was excellent. I've never much enjoyed Anderson as a comic, but as an interview guest with great stories and an interesting life, he was superb.

oh wow, neil young today! two cranky motherfuckers in one garage could go either way i guess but hoping for the best

(I'll have to listen to the Louie Anderson one next)

yeah the louie anderson ep was really great. on the other hand i'm not touching the chelsea handler ep with a barge pole.

on the other hand i'm not touching the chelsea handler ep with a barge pole.

They just pick at each other the entire time without ever really getting into any legit conversation about anything. Not sure why he even posted it.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Monday, 20 June 2016 13:24 (seven years ago) link

I think he's got a deal with Netflix to do interviews that focus on a new show (with Handler, Aziz, etc.).

King Nagl (Eazy), Monday, 20 June 2016 15:39 (seven years ago) link

disagre, i could listen to her belittle him for hours.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Monday, 20 June 2016 16:57 (seven years ago) link

The JLD interview was interesting in that he seemed to have provided a few moments where she could have mentioned that her dad was a billionaire but evaded it maybe.

Nerdstrom Poindexter, Monday, 20 June 2016 17:01 (seven years ago) link

I actually bailed on Neil 20 minutes in and skipped to Louie, no regrets

Crazy Eddie & Jesus the Kid (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 20 June 2016 17:36 (seven years ago) link

Neil interview was great
Louis was boring as usual

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Monday, 20 June 2016 17:38 (seven years ago) link

I thought Neil might be a steel trap, but Marc basically had to kick him out at the end.

Neil interview was great

Louie or Louis?

glandular lansbury (sic), Monday, 20 June 2016 21:26 (seven years ago) link

nothing too exciting in the neil interview, but it was perfectly listenable, neil seemed generally into it.

tylerw, Monday, 20 June 2016 22:21 (seven years ago) link

I wouldn't even say that the Neil interview sucked, it was just a dynamic that I couldn't deal with as my work day started: Neil trying to remember and elucidate things, Marc leaning on him a bit to move the story forward, etc. Gotta be in the mood for that.

And as a sucker for WTF comedian interviews, I loved the Louie interview. To each their own, I guess.

Crazy Eddie & Jesus the Kid (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 20 June 2016 22:22 (seven years ago) link

(Also this was the first time I'd ever listened to anyone interview Neil - previously I'd just read his print interviews.)

Thought you meant Louis CK
The Louie Andersobn interview was good

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Monday, 20 June 2016 22:41 (seven years ago) link

Until Marin has the guts to ask CK about abusing women idgaf about hearing them talk

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Monday, 20 June 2016 22:42 (seven years ago) link

Maron Jesus autocorrect

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Monday, 20 June 2016 22:43 (seven years ago) link

There's a part of the last Louis interview where Maron is at least covering his ass if any allegations come out -- something like "So you've got an interesting relationship with women, huh?" Similar to what he did in his Fred Armisen interview.

Any Given User (Eazy), Monday, 20 June 2016 22:49 (seven years ago) link

^^Yeah, that was weird - Maron kinda raising his eyebrow, like "hey, you know and I know that people are saying some stuff about you out there, and here's your chance to respond if you're up for that."

Crazy Eddie & Jesus the Kid (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 20 June 2016 22:57 (seven years ago) link

I think it's important to believe survivors' allegations of assault or harassment, but until someone has come forward with said claims against Louis CK, this kind of rhetoric seems mostly about posters declaring their own righteousness.

sean gramophone, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 00:32 (seven years ago) link

Oh fuck off I just think everything CK does is bored and overrated, and listening to Maron slobber over his gritty bar show is snore city

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Tuesday, 21 June 2016 00:48 (seven years ago) link

Acknowledging the existence of actual claims against actual celebrities ain't righteousness.

Crazy Eddie & Jesus the Kid (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 21 June 2016 02:36 (seven years ago) link

Really hoping Marc becomes a big Pono-head after Neil leaves one behind for him.

The Amber Tozer ep might be the most boring I've listened to.

I enjoyed the Louie Anderson one from a few weeks ago.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 19 July 2016 18:19 (seven years ago) link

James L. Brooks is good so far, but his monologue intro is maybe the most excruciating ever,

thrill of transgressin (Eazy), Tuesday, 19 July 2016 18:29 (seven years ago) link

John Carpenter/Joe Dante ep was great.

how's life, Tuesday, 19 July 2016 18:40 (seven years ago) link

I don't really listen to this anymore, but, for some reason, I recently checked out the one with the very earnest Paul Dano. It was lifeless; Marc so uninterested, Dano so uninteresting.

I kinda liked this one but she is def like average white girl^tm

johnny crunch, Thursday, 21 July 2016 12:20 (seven years ago) link

Tozer ep was like a half hearted attempt at an old school WTF, with lots of Sobriety talk and "you don't remember making out with me?" Maron history

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Thursday, 21 July 2016 13:08 (seven years ago) link

Yeah, the Dano one beats the Tozer one in terms of sheer boringness. Yeesh.

circa1916, Thursday, 21 July 2016 16:26 (seven years ago) link

I liked the Tozer episode and her tales about being a craigslist mattress saleswoman

Neptune Bingo (Michael B), Thursday, 21 July 2016 16:32 (seven years ago) link

Yeah Tozer one wasn't all that bad imo. Dano's about as compelling as a damp bathroom towel though.

circa1916, Thursday, 21 July 2016 16:39 (seven years ago) link

Tozer's just didn't go anywhere - Craigslist mattress story aside, there weren't any good stories or anything revealing and 'failed comic slash memoirist' is only fun if you tell some of those addict stories that were worth writing about.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Thursday, 21 July 2016 16:53 (seven years ago) link

Haven't been listening to this much but I always like hearing Jeff Goldblum talk, same w/Adam Goldberg. Some of my favorite Jews.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Thursday, 21 July 2016 17:20 (seven years ago) link

Goldblum ep was charming as hell

STOKED FOR ROSEANNE

Crazy Eddie & Jesus the Kid (Raymond Cummings), Friday, 12 August 2016 19:56 (seven years ago) link

Lauren Lapkus is one where I can't tell if he's awkward because he's attracted, hasn't done his homework, or hasn't had enough sleep.

Goldblum one is fun. Eric Andre was interesting too.

thrill of transgressin (Eazy), Friday, 12 August 2016 20:15 (seven years ago) link

Werner Herzog is on Monday!

Neptune Bingo (Michael B), Friday, 12 August 2016 20:28 (seven years ago) link

hasn't done his homework

He gets wrongfooted early by trying to insist that The Characters was a series that she had control over, and then gets disarmed by her genially going along with everything else he tries to neg her over in embarrassment.
