btw does anyone know of a image to ascii application/online tool that lets you specify which characters you want to be used? i have something in mind that would be cool, but it will only work if the ascii is made up of straight lines (slashes, dashes, etc)

i'm supposed to a projection thing next month and they offered to accommodate projections on non-flat surfaces, so i'm going to try to build a small 3-sided inverted staircase and then project the surface onto it, like this:

if all goes well it will look like a real 3D staircase from one viewing angle and look kind of odd from others

xpost yeah i think it's going to look really cool, at least if i can build a staircase that doesn't fall over! i am not handy at all but i'm thinking it would just be a matter of nailing a few pieces of plywood together and then painting the whole thing white.

Or foamcore and glue if it doesn't need to be strong.

just needs to a) be sturdy enough to not fall over and be transported without breaking, and b) be bright white

i keep making slow progress in learning the ways of cinema4d. at one point i knew how to define a path for a camera to follow while focusing on a particular target, and then i completely forgot how to do everything and had to start from square one again. i think i got the hang of it again though, and i finally learned how to add looping videos that sync up with everything else:
