Mind, I dunno how useful anyone but me would find it - just sometimes I'm looking idly but nonspecifically for a familiar I Love Photography thread to peruse, say.

the time words force you to engage your slow thinking and ask yourself "will this zing be good if it is responding to a fifty-eight minutes old post?"

I like the relative timing - I feel like it's been this way since I came back? Y'all whinin' 'bout 'nothin

The relative time only bothers me on zing touch because you have to click on the individual post to see the date-time

every day when you sign in you are randomly assigned the username of another poster. you need to post as that person -- each poster's identity becomes an ongoing, collaborative performance.

instead of fp, can we have a button that just puts a cap on how many posts a poster can post per day/week/month or something
― a but (brimstead), Wednesday, 7 December 2016 02:34 (seven years ago) link
Ability to "like" posts - but every upvote costs you yourself a fp, so they'd be used sparingly. Then a button to display most-liked posts across all boards. Breadcrumbs to the gold in them thar hills.
Ability to edit yr post if nobody has posted behind you - generally, then, would be confined to fixing rypod.

― The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 25 January 2017 14:00 (seven years ago) link
would it? how many style sheets have a non-white background color? fuck 'em, make it work for the 80% (or 90% or 99%).

change is bad, unless you're changing from a bad thing to a good thing I guess but when does that happen
― kinder, Wednesday, 25 January 2017 14:33 (seven years ago) link
i would go black on black rather than white on white so that you know the spoiler is there and don't accidentally mouseover something you don't want to see. though there's probably some weirdo out there with a black background stylesheet so maybe it has to be configurable
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 25 January 2017 14:44 (seven years ago) link
This is turning into a terrible work meeting. I want a quick fix, no configuration!

Also, spoiler feature.

ugh man pplains spoiler tags are always annoying and poorly implemented, plus then you get arguments about spoiler enforcement and blah blah, creates more problems than it solves

Black on black is a good idea. I don't know how style sheets work, but could it just be told "take whatever the current text color is and use that"?
― stein beck ii: the wrath of grapes (Doctor Casino), Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:01 (seven years ago) link
possibly set tagged text opacity to a low enough value for you to see that there's text there but not enough to be able to read without highlighting (opacity back to full on hover)
― nashwan, Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:08 (seven years ago) link
black on black looks gross how about grey on grey, otoh this opacity idea might have legs.
god i hate meetings.

― The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:41 (seven years ago) link
black on black it is, somebody go do it
― The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:42 (seven years ago) link
otoh this opacity idea might have legs
probably shit for older browsers and would need media query alternative for touch-select but tried it in dev tools and would work fine with any user-end method of classifying text
(I've already thought about this way too much for someone who would almost certainly never use it and dgaf about spoilers in general)
― nashwan, Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:51 (seven years ago) link
