ANY band named after a Smiths song (I mean come on..). I generally have a hard time with bands named after other bands' songs or albums. It just seems half-assed. It took me a long time to accept Eric's Trip b/c of this. I probably would have had a problem with Radiohead too, except for that I was unaware of the TH song until well after I was already a RH stan.

Bands You could never allow yourself to like, given their (to your ears) indefensibly stupid name.

Until the CD reissues came out, I completely ignored The Lines and also The Sound because I could never remember their humdrum names. Who knew that they created so much jaw-droppingly splendid music? Too bad about those names, though.

i dismissed death cab for cutie on the basis id assumed they were another landfill emo band. I then was convinced by a friend who i usually trust on these matters to investigate their music. At which point I dismissed then for being a load of old smug wet toss.

At the moment loads of germans making perfectly good house music are causing dance musics collective skin to crawl over their need to stick 'motor city detroit deep afro soul' minstrel crap in their names

I missed out on mclusky for years, because I convinced myself they sounded like Hefner. Who I have never knowingly heard because of their name.

Terje Rypdal, Shaham Hagai, Nejad Rastegar Nasser, Barrington Levy, Isung Yun, Josek Suk (clearly suks), Professor Longhair (damn hippies), Dr John (get back in the surgery), Peter Tosh (clearly tosh), Sofia Gubaidulina (too close to Gobbolino). Man, racism is hard.

Some of the ones listed that I've heard — My Morning Jacket, Cute is What We Aim For, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, You Say Party! We Say Die!, and Minus the Bear — I thought lived up to the awfulness of their names.

Hefner were better than McClusky- both very good, too. Bad and rather misleading names.

I always thought Nirvana was a terrible name, given their approach, and given that there were a ton of bands in their greater scene that were far more mind-manifesting (Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, Loop)

Hefner were a terrible band.

You know, I never bothered listening to Hefner or McClusky, and the names were a big part of that.
