Interesting. The old pf [used backbone](http://backbonejs.org/#examples-pitchfork) (which made sense in 2011), the new one uses React, pretty common story these days.

The red underline to indicate hyperlink is making it look like they spelled everything incorrectly.

that's the first thing i looked for tbh, for a second i thought they'd just stopped having them

i don't understand the prioritisation here tbh. on loading the site i am presented with two news stories -- one which is telling me the website has changed, which no duh!, and the other just a share of something from a band's myspace or something, and one feature, an oral history which seems like it (probably) required more work than either news story and is actually exclusive content but is in the least prominent position

btw it seems like the big innovation is the ability to turn off coverage of non-indie musics if you don't like them

that innovation is def gonna please all the 4chan "cuckfork" ppl who think they're giving rap and R&B unjustly high scores because of "white guilt"

that shit's had to have sucked ballllz for whatever intern had to go back to 11 year old reviews and try to remember what Ninja High School sounded like

The Pitch is still there, as a category under "Latest." Though maybe it is effectively dead, who knows.

Sadly, it doesn't remember my choice to clear out all genres other than rock. Also, just scanned quickly through all reviews and they don't seem to be offering soundcloud or spotify links to tracks anymore.

in news the two stories i hid by setting it to filter out rock were 'scharpling and wurster appear on the simpsons' (ok i guuuuuuuess) and 'majical cloudz play final show'

home pages are still going to be the number one traffic page on most sites

isn't it totally normal for websites that redesign to have a little summary of the redesign near the top? i expect that'll be up there all day

but there is important news about what someone said about someone else that should be at the top, especially if someone else said that something was wrong but someone else says that the someone is also wrong

the real scandal is that they decided to rip off CNN with their HTML title: "The Most Trusted Voice in Music"

this looks weird to me too but i'm sure pitchfork has tons of data about where people actually scroll and click that led them to altering the site in this way so \(o_O)/

i did sort of like that they were one of the sites with a background that was a different color than white

The "Best New Music" tag seems quiet now imo. I thought announcing that was their bread and butter, in the sense that's it's been their main taste-making validation tactic.

^ I think we can assume that album reviews aren't being read as much as they were judging from the overall redesign.

tbh i only really ever read the news from pitchfork and even with that i only get 3 headlines, have to scroll past a bunch of crap i don't want to see. that's not to say that their previous design with that tiny scrolling newsbox was much better, i just liked having it all in one place

also they left their sourcemaps on</nerdlolz>
