two weeks pass...

A local store has a one-star review from a woman who's mad because they wouldn't trade her too-small Harley Quinn sweatshirt that she purchased elsewhere straight up for a different size off their wall. The nerve of this store to not trade your used sweatshirt from Hot Topic for a new one.

wow this guy's yelp account is a treasure trove

"Once we were done eating and our plates were cleared Michelle came back out on the floor. Looked over at us and just walked off. We waited for 10 minutes with no one around and we eventually had to ask the bartender for the check. He printed the bill and suddenly Michelle appears again! Brought us the check smiles and all like I was going to congratulate her or thank her. I left her no tip and wrote "you must be fucking kidding" on the tip line."

HAHA! All I can say is this was an insult to A) Seafood, and B) Restaurants.

The food was beyond salty. As much as it was, a suitable reaction is "Oh grand I get fish with my salt!"

if he's choosing to brag about these behaviors i shudder to think what bad things he does that he does not think are cool enough to post on social media platforms

The restaurant is dim and poorly lit. It is clean however. There never isn't much of a wait.

Its prob been said on here before but there should be a Yelp for Yelpers.

Unopening of the third seal + your newest TV hate-watch: http://www.eater.com/2016/3/30/11330740/12-hungry-yelpers-food-network-yelp-show

Food Network has a ton of new shows in the works, and like it or not, one of them involves Yelp reviewers. The upcoming series is called 12 Hungry Yelpers — a play, of course, on the title of 1950s film 12 Angry Men.

Forbes says the series "will use those terrible, and hilarious, reviews to help restaurants discover and fix their problems." According to an executive from Food Network parent company Scripps, the show represents a partnership with Yelp Inc. and will be hosted by Monti Carlo, a MasterChef season three finalist who also hosts a food show on the FYI Network.

Would be a much better show if, each episode, a random Yelper was handcuffed to a chair while the restaurant owner smacks the ever-loving shit out of them.

i'm not sure i can come up with a worse title for a television show than "12 Hungry Yelpers" without resorting to urban dictionary or committing a hate crime

Yelp is such a shitty site. Every single restaurant is ~4 stars.

human life won't become a cat (man alive), Tuesday, 5 April 2016 16:24 (eight years ago) link

yes, the problem with yelp is that the reviewers just aren't critical enough

qualx, Tuesday, 5 April 2016 17:19 (eight years ago) link

i h8 how yelpers like to put the waiters name in the review, "our server, DAVID..." such a tedious lil power-trip

am0n, Friday, 8 April 2016 02:10 (eight years ago) link

xp there are always the same proportion of critical reviewers though, hence you always get an aggregate around 4 stars unless a place is just SOOOO terrible that people agree (and even when a place is SOOOO good people never agree, so it still gets 4 stars). So it's of very limited use as a restaurant finder, beyond just vetting places for outright horribleness.

Beware the Beautiful, Laughing Women

New giallo title.

emil.y, Friday, 15 April 2016 16:39 (eight years ago) link

I also start to worry if many women in a restaurant are beautiful in a trendy or stylish way. The point is not that beautiful women have bad taste in food. Instead, the problem is that they will attract a lot of men to the restaurant, whether or not the place serves excellent food. And that allows the restaurant to cut back on the quality of the food.

thanking u caek for this important discovery

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Friday, 15 April 2016 20:28 (eight years ago) link

A small aside: in many restaurants, it is a propitious omen when the diners are screaming at each other. It’s a sign they are regular customers and feel at home. Many Chinese restaurants are full of screaming Chinese patrons. Don’t ask me if they’re fighting, I have no idea—but it is a sign that I want to be there too.

guy is really good at explaining how some knobs on a box with infinite knobs effects the output of the box even though he can never hold the other rapidly changing knobs constant so as to isolate the effects of the knobs he is guessing about, i.e. he is an economist.
