Thanks to seandalai et al. for your compilation efforts — I enjoyed the countdown and stats. I listened to a few hours of the albums playlist on shuffle before voting and didn't hear anything that truly "grabbed" me — it was interesting to hear such a variety of music this way, but it also somehow made taste as such seem totally arbitrary. This is probably part of why I've typically tended to latch on to particular artists and follow them for a long time, at least until they start really disappointing me (or perhaps I change in some way). I also don't have the consistent investment in new music that a lot of ILMers do, though I admire it.

Joanna Wang was my favourite discovery of the entire polling season, so your efforts were by no means in vain

Looking back over my ballot, I remember Algiers was 26 on my list. I decided to place Fall Out Boy ahead of it because I felt sorry for it, but Algiers is the better record.

Which would have made my only non-placing selection Lonelady, an album I think might have done well if more people had heard it.

I had a hard time with the Lonelady; its weird because I think if I had encountered it about two months prior, when I was listening to a lot of second-tier no wave and early On-U and stuff like thay, it wouldve clicked with me...but I decided to give it a listen just coming off the metal poll, and it seemed a little slight.
