honestly don't understand people who don't think like this

idk maybe it's because you think the best albums have the best songs on them? idgi. which list gets priority over which list?

"here are the best albums without any good tracks on them" vs "here are the best tracks on bad albums"?

i don't go out of my way to avoid it, but i ended up w/ just 5 of my tracks being from albums i voted for, mainly because i focus on proper charting singles etc

well, i want to rep as much music by as many artists as possible, ideally, given how many there were making amazing music in any given year, and doubling up reduces that

Lots of people just aren't singles/tracks oriented, so the songs on their face lps are the ones they want to vote for. Seems like the wrong way to do things, sure, but I'm partly guilty of it myself.

you're essentially describing cross-list vote splitting with yourself!

well...if you vote for an album people will assume you love most of the tracks...and don't need to be told again

personally I feel like its a bit of a waste of time, eg the Susanne Sundfor album is full of great tracks but it's even better taken together as a statement of intent as an "album" and if I tell you it's a great album I don't need to spell out that it consists of ten great tracks

i mean, i hope you're really looking fwd to next week's roll-out which will reprise half the artists in this week's roll-out

can we do an EP list in 2016? I feel like I heard a lot of really good EPs that worked as a collection of songs that I didn't necessarily think of as "singles" or "tracks"

Hell yes! So many phenom EPs last year.

@lex i mean, yeah there will be a lot of crossover, but if there's no "rule" about it, then you're only making your own votes less likely to place

like I totally ignored Annie, Laura Groves, Kaledia, The Japanese House, Dej Loaf and Sevyn Streeter because I thought of their releases as not singles but didn't consider that they wouldn't be at all possible options for albums votes

the honey cocaine ep is one of the only eps i've ever considered voting for as an album (but voted for "sundae" instead to no avail)

and yeah in general eps are becoming more of a thing

I just feel like having no cross over between album and track ballots would be completely dishonest

The point of these polls IMO is not to show off how diverse my listening is but to show off what i really like listening to
