Wow. For a second I read that as being by The Association and was trying to imagine what kind of unlikely career developments might have brought them to that point.

Yes, Karl-Heinz Wiberny ending up in The Association is just too far-fetched.

Anyway, it's not a three, it's a yogh. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 23 December 2015 16:55 (eight years ago) link

If we're allowing music bios then there's this: Ronnie Browne's "That Guy Fae The Corries"

till yesterday was only familiar with 'bend it', but watched some of their beat club performances which are surprisingly heavy ('loos of england' aside)... great fuzz bass. tempted to investigate further now.

i unabashedly love that title, and that cover

i unabashedly love a lot of these titles and covers tbh

Yeah they were kind of like a twee version of the early Move stuff, some great basslines and a few really killer tunes.

Also check "Zabadak!" "Hold Tight" and their goofy chart-topper "The Legend of Xanadu." This 1967 EP release also seems thread-relatable:

I went and looked up the album that kicked off the whole thing - I've Got My Own Album To Do - and found the closing track was called Crotch Music. I had a listen and it's not what I expected at all, more like someone put the 70's in a blender, of if Battles collaborated with Edgar Winter.

Incidentally I heard Ronnie Wood was in an old man pub in Kildare with some hangers-on a couple of years ago and someone handed him a guitar and asked for a tune. He started singing and the barman came over and told him there was no singing allowed. "That's Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones, you can't tell him to shut up". "I don't care if he's Daniel O'Donnell, he can't sing in here".

(album is depressingly bad btw, at least based on the cuts i've checked out so far, "If I Were" and the single "Oh What A Thrill")

Jimmy Jones must feel that being ensconced in velvet is socially acceptable and in the 70s it probably was.

Fernandez did a stint in Pinochet's prisons after the coup (along with many other Chilean folkies), but he made it out.

lolling at "i've got my own pablum to do," and the idea of freddie and the dreamers still making albums in 1978, wtf.

i'm just still baffled at freddie and the dreamers having a record contract in 1978. apparently somewhere along the way they became the musical hosts of a British kids' show?
