"One minor problem: the slick, oily residue on the outside of these things. It’s meant to resemble butter coating, but it doesn’t, and it’s not really necessary. It makes the snack a little lardaceous and overwhelming after a while."

And then he ranks it number 1.

Anyway the blister peanuts clobber all these snacks

Hadrian VIII, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 14:49 (eight years ago) link

wtf, the everything crackers and the mini cheese sandwiches are AWESOME!!!

Ina-Garten-Da-Vida (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 15:42 (eight years ago) link

Love those little cheese sandwich crackers. We get them ostensibly for Ivy and I end up eating more of them than she does.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 17:15 (eight years ago) link

and they're organic, that means healthy

Ina-Garten-Da-Vida (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 17:28 (eight years ago) link

those south african chips are not very good. the ghost pepper ones are fine.

sarahell, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 21:56 (eight years ago) link

the south african chips seem good at first but the appeal wears thin v quickly

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 23:35 (eight years ago) link

Yeah, like a quarter of the way through the bag. They have a kind of odd texture, too, a little liked baked Lay's or something.

thumbs up!

I'm interested. What percentage of the filling is kale? Is it frozen?

Capitalism Is A Death Cult And Science Is A Whore (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 19 November 2015 05:29 (eight years ago) link

I got it from the refrigerated section. It's like 50/50 quinoa and kale, with chunks of sweet potato. Good flavor. The tortilla is spicy.

polyphonic, Thursday, 19 November 2015 05:53 (eight years ago) link

pour one out for the now-discontinued biltong jerky, damn i loved that

Guayaquil (eephus!), Thursday, 19 November 2015 12:57 (eight years ago) link

I did not like the South African potato chips but boy am I a big fan of the turkey and stuffing potato chips.

carl agatha, Thursday, 19 November 2015 16:37 (eight years ago) link

moi aussi!!!

Ina-Garten-Da-Vida (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 19 November 2015 17:35 (eight years ago) link

xp those turkey chips are the closest this country has come to my beloved nz's chicken-flavoured chips

just1n3, Thursday, 19 November 2015 21:15 (eight years ago) link

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 19 November 2015 22:26 (eight years ago) link

maura, Monday, 14 December 2015 19:31 (eight years ago) link

omg something lol happened yesterday with a TJs product

i was at a potluck and saw a little bowl full of the gummy tummy penguins. a guy i know took one and bit it in half and the smell was so pungent we could all smell it like 3-4 ft away. he was like "what IS this, it tastes like bitter orange peel" and he said something about a bitter orange from Italy, I forget what they're called. then when i told him that they were gummies from TJs he said "maybe you're right" and I was like dood I know I'm right, I have eaten entire bags of these candies gimme some cred and another woman joined our convo and was like yeah she's right those are gummy penguins from TJs

lol

La Lechuza (La Lechera), Monday, 14 December 2015 19:32 (eight years ago) link

Ha I am rarely inspired to buy based on delicious free sample, but I did pick up TWO packages of chocolate raspberry tamales the other day

Hadrian VIII, Monday, 14 December 2015 19:38 (eight years ago) link

Why did I try the Inca Corn? Because now I am addicted to the Inca Corn.

prickly festive towers (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 14 December 2015 20:14 (eight years ago) link

i would not recommend the butternut squash gyoza, it's exactly the sum of its parts

intheblanks, Monday, 14 December 2015 23:53 (eight years ago) link

took a flyer on the packaged grass-fed sirloin. well, that was a waste of $11 and I should have known steak in a box was going to taste way more like cold cuts than it did like an actual yummy cold piece of leftover steak

Guayaquil (eephus!), Tuesday, 15 December 2015 01:17 (eight years ago) link

Not the lashings of ginger beer you want!

nickn, Thursday, 17 December 2015 03:17 (eight years ago) link

nooooo

Not sure who they contracted that to, but I wanted to go buy a case

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 17 December 2015 03:18 (eight years ago) link

I drank all the ones I bought

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 17 December 2015 03:19 (eight years ago) link

yeah i loved it, an affordable substitute for blenheim's

balls, Saturday, 19 December 2015 20:02 (eight years ago) link

Update on the gummis -- I bought some and there were a few (maybe 2 in the whole bag) that had a very different and distinctly bitter flavor. I think there may have been a mixup at the gummy penguin factory

La Lechuza (La Lechera), Saturday, 19 December 2015 20:17 (eight years ago) link

I just bought these too thinking they were just rich gummies but no they are fn Gushers

cory artangel (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 December 2015 22:46 (eight years ago) link

That Super Burrito is..... not that great :-/ it just tastes like I'm eating big spoonfuls of kale and quinoa, it's not like some wonderful flavor combination greater than the sum of it's parts, which is imo sort of how a burrito is supposed to operate.

cory artangel (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 23 December 2015 15:43 (eight years ago) link

three weeks pass...

fuck these turds. this shit tastes like week-old leftover off-brand box mac. Not good.

http://designassets.traderjoes.com/Uploads/wn-organic-mac-n-cheezy-rays3.png

I didn't care for them either.

Jeff, Monday, 18 January 2016 15:51 (eight years ago) link

i am addicted to mini cheese sandwich crackers

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 18 January 2016 16:27 (eight years ago) link

After an absence of many month, my favorite minestrone soup was back on the shelf! I actually jumped in the air and gave a little clap.

kate78, Monday, 18 January 2016 17:22 (eight years ago) link

xp me too!!!! they are so great

They are as wonderful as those gloppy cheezy rays are horrifying.

carl agatha, Monday, 18 January 2016 19:53 (eight years ago) link

the mac & cheese bites are wonderful.

sarahell, Monday, 18 January 2016 19:56 (eight years ago) link

Pizza Veggie Burgers were fantastic. We eat a lot of the Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burgers, but I think Pizza Burgers is going to make it into the rotation.

Jeff, Wednesday, 10 February 2016 14:18 (eight years ago) link

I like the Thai veggie burgers. But I have this problem where I'm good for about five of any variety of veggie burger, so I wind up with a bunch of three-quarters full burger boxes.

got the gluten-free cupcakes because they were prominently placed, and I didn't see any glutenous cupcakes nearby. Pretty tasty cupcake.

sarahell, Thursday, 11 February 2016 18:26 (eight years ago) link

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 11 February 2016 18:31 (eight years ago) link

omg the chicken baltis and the steak & ales I kept in my work freezer at all times (though i think I started to tire of them)

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 11 February 2016 18:50 (eight years ago) link

yeah i dunno if i could eat a lot of them, but god, awesome step up from a boring-ass pot pie

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:13 (eight years ago) link

I would try these steak&ale pies

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:20 (eight years ago) link

they're v hearty and flavorful and riche

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:32 (eight years ago) link

v dope

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:42 (eight years ago) link

Do NOT look at the nutritional information on the back of the Balti pies. In fact just throw the box the fuck out and enjoy them.
