@Joelsherman1
#Mets inquired on Simmons this morn and told ask price is Harvey or deGrom, so no way.

lol ok braves

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 15:24 (eight years ago) link

simmons for harvey would be a pretty fair trade

J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 November 2015 15:52 (eight years ago) link

hard to say, even for All-World D and Mets only having MH for 3 more years

Harvey for Mookie Betts wd be tempting; ass't GM John Ricco said trading one of Core Four mound studs "very unlikely"

wah-KEEN behn-WAH

...the Mariners have acquired right-handed relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit (wah-KEEN behn-WAH) from the San Diego Padres in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Enyel De Los Santos and minor league infielder Nelson Ward.

the preller challenge: field an entirely new team each season

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 18:33 (eight years ago) link

I hope somebody has used Benoit Balls as a fantasy team name in this joint.

phở intellectual (WilliamC), Thursday, 12 November 2015 18:40 (eight years ago) link

Quinoa would be a cool nickname for him

johnny crunch, Thursday, 12 November 2015 18:43 (eight years ago) link

@IanMBrowne
Dombrowski seems to be cushioning @RedSox fans for loss of big prospect when he says, "At some point, we'll have to do something painful."

Andy K, Thursday, 12 November 2015 19:09 (eight years ago) link

sounds like Betts to Mets!

skateboards are the new combover (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 12 November 2015 19:11 (eight years ago) link

re: quinoa, As long as you spell it Quinoit

nerd shit (Will M.), Thursday, 12 November 2015 19:15 (eight years ago) link

bookie metts

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 19:22 (eight years ago) link

filling park w/ a MOOOOOOOOOOOOOKIE chant again is better retro move than "Piano Man" singalong

skateboards are the new combover (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 12 November 2015 19:23 (eight years ago) link

Seems like Aroldis Chapman is top on the deal list for the Reds. Looking at the possibilities, I'd think he might end up going to Houston. They got position player prospects to deal and seem to be ready to make a run. I'd think the Yankees would maybe take a shot at Chapman, as you got to think the crazy fastball and The Missile's showmanship would probably play well in the Bronx.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:07 (eight years ago) link

FOH y'all aint gettin mookie

metro slothrop want some more (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:13 (eight years ago) link

unless i guess dombrowski is trying to reignite the never-actually-that-real-if-at-all mets/boston hostilities, which'd be silly, then again goons on both sides would prob buy into it right quick

metro slothrop want some more (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:14 (eight years ago) link

think the yankees are pretty well set at closer

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:25 (eight years ago) link

Some Houston fans want the Astros to perhaps deal for Votto or Frazier along with Chapman. They like things large in Texas.

I just keep wondering how long until the Blue Jays just plunk down the Canadian cash and get Joey Votto from the Reds. It might not happen after the big flip, but there was some talk of swapping with Jose Bautista to the Reds in a deal for Votto, but that was before you knew how JV would play coming out of the injury.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:25 (eight years ago) link

really doubt front-office pros are trying to do anything but get wins, sloth

skateboards are the new combover (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:32 (eight years ago) link

i was being facetious. also betts would prob require a return of matz or thor and i don't think the mets would (or should!) pay that price

metro slothrop want some more (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:38 (eight years ago) link

if the tigers are any indication the tigers prefer a certain sort of player which might not be mookie, though i think they'd be crazy to trade him

J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 November 2015 22:37 (eight years ago) link

colby rasmus will accept houston's qualifying offer!

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 23:14 (eight years ago) link

@JesseSanchezMLB
Source: Andrelton Simmons has been traded to the Angels. #Braves

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 23:36 (eight years ago) link

:o

phở intellectual (WilliamC), Thursday, 12 November 2015 23:37 (eight years ago) link

i'll say

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 23:39 (eight years ago) link

simmons for one year of erick aybar, LHP sean newcomb, RHP chris ellis

newcomb is really good, but only has seven starts above class a, and half of those came in an extreme pitchers park (arkansas)

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 November 2015 23:51 (eight years ago) link

Barves also got $3 million.

Acc to a FB person, Angels pitchers were last in the majors in ground ball percentage allowed.

skateboards are the new combover (Dr Morbius), Friday, 13 November 2015 02:03 (eight years ago) link

@keithlaw
Doesn't have to be a winner/loser in every trade. I love Simmons and I think Newcomb could be special

skateboards are the new combover (Dr Morbius), Friday, 13 November 2015 02:20 (eight years ago) link

angels have absolutely nothing left on the farm, and shortstop wasn't (yet) one of the holes that needed filling

mookieproof, Friday, 13 November 2015 03:51 (eight years ago) link

Fascinating trade -- I like it for both teams and yet I have no idea how it will pan out long term. A huge range of outcomes are in play.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 13 November 2015 09:41 (eight years ago) link

the angels are kind of a really shitty franchise

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 November 2015 15:51 (eight years ago) link

they had like four good position players and one good pitching prospect and trade one of those position players and that pitching prospect for a marginal upgrade at SS. at least simmons is on a good contract but smh.

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 November 2015 15:52 (eight years ago) link

too much time on ilb: i now have to double-check whether i've written 'braves' or 'barves'

mookieproof, Friday, 13 November 2015 17:06 (eight years ago) link

I think Arte Moreno is the main reason the team is shitty. Hes like a poor man's Jerry Jones.

carthago delenda est (mayor jingleberries), Friday, 13 November 2015 18:12 (eight years ago) link

he seems well meaning but impulsive and foolish

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 November 2015 18:13 (eight years ago) link

a subset of that is moreno letting scioscia run amok

mookieproof, Friday, 13 November 2015 18:19 (eight years ago) link

wieters will accept orioles' qualifying offer, which i find a little surprising -- maybe more to do with next year's free agent class being weak?

mookieproof, Friday, 13 November 2015 19:08 (eight years ago) link

It is a new world!

skateboards are the new combover (Dr Morbius), Friday, 13 November 2015 20:20 (eight years ago) link

@Ken_Rosenthal
Wieters’ $15.8M salary for 2016 will be highest for one year in #Orioles history.

kimbrel (at least) to boston

mookieproof, Saturday, 14 November 2015 00:46 (eight years ago) link

kimbrel for margot/guerra/asuaje/allen

awfully good haul for a reliever, even a really good one

no way, he's like the only catcher on the market this year. weird decision

qualx, Saturday, 14 November 2015 01:25 (eight years ago) link

Obviously he fears change.

Andy K, Saturday, 14 November 2015 01:36 (eight years ago) link

he and rasmus and anderson love the guys and the fans and felt that it was the best place for their families

mookieproof, Saturday, 14 November 2015 01:40 (eight years ago) link

lol @ the dodgers even offering it to anderson

qualx, Saturday, 14 November 2015 02:42 (eight years ago) link
