That is early indeed :) Can relate though, played it in the car a couple of times last week. Didn't think it'd be a good car album at all, but it's Hood, so, yeah.

The new vinyl run is only 250 per right? Good on them. God how I wished they'd make a new album.

I have no self control so picked up both of those vinyl re-issues, they're really good. Two albums I've always kind of overlooked because they are not 'Cold House', an album i deeply love.

once on a long car ride with some university peers of mine i managed to get them to play the entirety of rustic houses and all but the last 1 1/2 tracks of codename:dustsucker until the freakout halfway through 'shapeshifter' gave one of them conniptions

The Cycle of Days and Seasons is the fifth full-length album by Leeds-based band Hood. Both the LP and CD versions were released on Domino Records in 1999.

Houses Tilting = best Hood

It's an oddly transportive track for me - among other things it's that piano tolling like bell, it's that plaintive brass, I feel like I'm being summoned through space and time back home to a past I never had

you're worth the whole world still, IMO, the best piece of music they ever did

The Declining Winter's new album 'Belmont Slope' is out, and to paraphrase our favourite emo-ilxor, it's easily AOTY. The sadness drips off your face like a dirty rain.

Am I really the only one still caring for these guys? This is prime miserablist music ffs, "it's grim up north"-style. You take one wrong turn on the A6303 towards Haworth, enjoying the scenery, and you are done for. Saer would appreciate this tbh.

Not agreeing or disagreeing, just wondering why Craig is considered the "genius"? I adore Hood but my knowledge of their various backstories is fairly sparse

Revisiting Light Folds now and it's no less engaging than when I last heard it

Partly based on his non-Hood music, particularly "Light Folds", and partly based on a guess that he was behind the "//-" tracks on "The Cycle of Days & Seasons" ... and, also, partly comedy.

BTW there was a very limited lathe-cut Declining Winter release this month. Probably all gone (I got on the second pressing). Typically lovely.

Craig is a smart guy but not the only genius from Hood c'mon.

I'd say the Adams brothers are Hood's beating heart and soul. But I'm not really invested in a silly discussion about who Hood's *genius* might be. Sum of parts etc.
