In retrospect, the editorial exodus looks to have been more or less the end. One Grantlander says that no one knew the four editors were leaving to join Simmons until the day they left. That’s because, another source says, Simmons has been warring with ESPN both by acting as a source for writer Jim Miller, and by more nefarious means. While Grantland writers are on contract, editors are at-will. The four editors’ exits were coordinated, and Simmons, according to this source, told the editors who jumped ship with him that a condition of their employment was that they couldn’t warn anyone at ESPN they were leaving, in order to hit the site as hard as possible.“He put his beef with Skipper above the jobs of dozens of people,” one Grantland staffer said.

Bill Simmons @BillSimmons 9m9 minutes ago3-way deal: Boogie to the Knicks, Porzingis to Boston, Lopez plus Boston's unprotected Brooklyn 2016 pick to Sacramento... WHO SAYS NO?
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 10 November 2015 19:17 (eight years ago) link
why would the celtics involve the knicks in that trade
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 November 2015 19:21 (eight years ago) link
haven't a clue, not to mention if you're momentarily thinking this impossible trade is possible, why would you want porzingis over boogie
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 10 November 2015 19:23 (eight years ago) link
that's what i'm sayin
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 November 2015 19:25 (eight years ago) link
simmons seems extremely bullish on porzingis (and probably sees him on the bird - nowitzki axis of White Basketball Saviors he's so fond of) and historically doesn't trust guys with attitude problems.
that is my casual read at least.

didn't bill push pretty hard on the Kevin Love is a natural fit for the Celtics angle too?
― (extremely hoops voice) (Clay), Tuesday, 10 November 2015 19:28 (eight years ago) link
simmons LOVES boogie, always has. assume this is part of the running lol get a white guy to boston series as clay suggests
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 10 November 2015 19:32 (eight years ago) link
yeah bill is very pro-boogie - has always said stuff like, "wouldn't you be disgruntled if you had 12 different point guards and 4+ coaches in 5 years" etc

simmons nursed a fantasy of boogie coming to the celtics for awhile but he said on some recent pod that he'd given up it actually happening. he said it really sad also as if it had once been a real possibility but something had actually happened and now it wasn't instead of just simmons fantasized over it for so long that his tweets not somehow making it come to be made him lose faith in god.
― balls, Wednesday, 11 November 2015 00:10 (eight years ago) link
