video conceived as and destined to become an endless series of gifs. the second track feels like a bit of a throwaway, but so far I'm down.

fffv, Monday, 26 October 2015 19:53 (eight years ago) link

Hmm, I'm not too psyched that she went with that clichéd pop song chord progression/structure.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 26 October 2015 20:00 (eight years ago) link

that strategy worked well on Realiti

welltris (crüt), Monday, 26 October 2015 20:01 (eight years ago) link

Realiti was so sonically engrossing though

REALITI IS ON ART ANGELS Y'ALL (the CD and digital versions at least)

j. winters (josh), Monday, 26 October 2015 20:05 (eight years ago) link

i was looking closely at the vinyl packing and i don't see 'realiti' there...might have to get both if it's on one and not the other

Grimes does Annie is just about everything I've ever wanted. My assumption is that the rest of the album won't be that at all, which I'm also psyched about.

both are on the cd, though

Sufjan Grafton, Monday, 26 October 2015 20:29 (eight years ago) link

This is great, still not paying £30+ for a balcony seat to see her though. My own fault for snoozing and not getting standing tickets :-/

lilcraigyboi (Craigo Boingo), Monday, 26 October 2015 23:30 (eight years ago) link

I like it, but part of me kind of wishes there for there to be a ripping a guitar solo in there, but I guess this is what you get with an artist who hasn't had as much experience with a guitar before.

MarkoP, Monday, 26 October 2015 23:44 (eight years ago) link

way 2 make grimes sound like a 5 yr old

crime breeze (schlump), Tuesday, 27 October 2015 00:39 (eight years ago) link

i think we can all agree that every song would be better with a ripping guitar solo in it

v bummed if no realiti on the lp but there are typos in the 4ad thing so knows

crime breeze (schlump), Tuesday, 27 October 2015 01:18 (eight years ago) link

I'm still missing the Claire Hamill x Richard D. James quality I so admired about the less poppy parts of Visions.

☸ (Sanpaku), Tuesday, 27 October 2015 01:27 (eight years ago) link

IDK, something a little basic about those two tracks, like it has more than hints of the swedish pop machine. Still has some good grimesian touches and not bad overall. Looking forward to hearing the rest.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Tuesday, 27 October 2015 01:31 (eight years ago) link

I for one am shocked and disappointed the qualities that Grimes explored on Visions' non-singles are not as present on the first single for her new album.

Tim F, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 01:32 (eight years ago) link

oh claire hamill is so great
i never thought of her in relation to grimes

every stray industrial percussive sound on this is a blessing

crime breeze (schlump), Tuesday, 27 October 2015 03:26 (eight years ago) link

yeah not thrilled, we already have good synthy pop out there, do we need another one? didn't listen to the second song.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 03:59 (eight years ago) link

flesh without blood isn't as good as realiti but it's still quite nice, love that she's taken the feel of the percussion from realiti further.

don't really care for life in the vivid dream but i guess it'll probably fit as more of an interlude in the album.

https://youtu.be/svT2miDOc4M very disappointed she's confirmed that this isn't on the album

ufo, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 04:26 (eight years ago) link

hum. disappointing first single...
I hope the rest of the album is more inspired.

AlXTC from Paris, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 14:31 (eight years ago) link

Everything about this "era" has been brilliant so far. Great songs, hilarious cover, Grimes wearing wings and clutching a bloody dress.

Leonard Pine, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 20:07 (eight years ago) link

lol, yesterday I was thinking "weird, I already can't remember how it goes, not very catchy at all" and then suddenly just now it popped out of my brain again like Alien.
