"Ghost Showers" is great, dude.

Seriously though, like "Momma" is a highlight of the tail end of Fishscale. Homie tell me how u feel about Bulletproof Wallets cause that may be our base disagreement.

^^^^^^ the genesis
i'm eager to hear anything Ghost does, but i'd prefer more "Shakey Dog" & less "Momma".

BPW is an ok album. RZA's touch was sorely missed, though. A lot of it needed editing, and it's too bad some great tracks were left off due to sample clearance issues.

Also, if the new album is going to be all R&B, i hope it features a solid amount of 60 Second Assassin.

RZA actually produced more tunes for Bulletproof Wallets than Supreme Clientele, so I don't see how his "touch was missed" there. And BW is definitely a better album than SC. Some of the beats on SC have a pretty crappy lo-fi sound, whereas the beats on BW are more varied and sound better. In general I think BW is better because it has more varied tunes and moods - "Flowers" is one of the best Wu ballads. The nervous and screechy mood Ghostface is for the whole of SC gets kinda irritating for my ears at some point, I'd much prefer to listen to a few R&B tunes from him once in a while.

I mean, just listen to the drums on "Nutmeg", for example... How can anyone think they sound good? The drum sound is so weak and tinny.

Tuomas...RZA didn't oversee BPW like he did Supreme Clientele. He worked on SC from its inception to its completion. He helped pick beats and mix the music. SC sounds like a RZA-produced Wu album. BPW sounds too clean...like what I'd imagine a Ghostface Roc-a-Fella album would sound like. The drums on Nutmeg are supposed to sound like that. Get rid of your preconceptions on what hip-hop drums are supposed to sound like, and you'll learn to appreciate it. Hollow Bones, anyone? 260?
― brightscreamer, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 23:47 (fifteen years ago) link
I don't care if the drums were supposed sound like that, they still sound shitty to me. I'm not too fond of the drums on Hollow Bones, but in it they at least fit the overall sound, which is kinda weird and disorienting. Nutmeg just sounds like a rather regular hip-hop beat with a shitty drum sound; I think the punchy sample used in it would required stronger drums to emphasize it, now the drums just make the the whole beat weaker. Overall, I've never understood why low-fi/tinny sounds are supposed to be a good thing. I've always preferred the cleaner RZA beats, that's why The W is my favourite Clan album.

Speaking of R&B Ghost: http://www.zshare.net/audio/17405824ecbd2841/
And before you tell me how awesome his verse is, think about how boring the shit surrounding it would get on a full length album.
