two weeks pass...

Yesterday at work somebody asked me for help when I was swamped and I almost replied "I've got my own album to do" but realized it would have made zero sense.

I did this today! My friend wants me to contribute to something he's writing, and after agreeing he told me to "get on it then", to which I replied with Mr. Wood's words.

I found one last weekend but it is from '82, which should be ok as there are a few 80s LPs on here.

Todd Rundgren - The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect

Steppenwolf "For Ladies Only" and "Steppenwolf At Your Birthday Party" are a bit odd. The Euro cover on "For Ladies Only" definitely fits in with some of these on the thread.

I'd love to watch a cartoon based around characters in this band who go around in a van playing shows and solving mysteries.

oh god, "For Ladies Only" is horrrrrid

Gorefest Frump (Doctor Casino), Saturday, 15 August 2015 00:32 (eight years ago) link

Incidentally, now that it's catching on as an expression - - - in what tone do we imagine Wood expressing this sentiment? I've never taken it as indignant (though it works beautifully for that) but rather more of a "wellp, I guess it's my turn, here we go!" Really it should have been a Ringo Starr title, he has the right "oh, good ol' Ringo" quality about him.

Got a reissue of this mid '70s jazz album (sax/piano duets) recently:

if you like the 'Birth Comes To Us All' then you can buy a rare vintage promo t-shirt featuring the cover:

Included with this t shirt is an authentic plastic rat that was thrown into the audience at The Paradise rock club in Boston.

My friend who's coming to town was telling me about how his gf might or might not be able to join us for dinner because she's also visiting some friends she hasn't seen in a long time and has limited time, and my first thought was "that's alright, she's got her own album to do."

sometimes I think about a sort of spinoff/cousin thread of jazz records whose titles are bad puns on the artists' names. Would be a long thread.
