pplains, Sunday, 19 July 2015 16:41 (eight years ago) link

Almost semi-famous

Crawling From The Blecchage (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 19 July 2015 17:20 (eight years ago) link

Don't want to reveal too much here, but buzza is a former US President xp

Treeship, Sunday, 19 July 2015 17:26 (eight years ago) link

We've never had a former president that was either special-dark or semi-sweet, highly doubting any of this.

pplains, Sunday, 19 July 2015 18:01 (eight years ago) link

with stet mentioning the hassles of funding the site i was wondering if a rolling voluntary sub style model a la patreon had been considered, presumably less administratively demanding than periodic fundraisers altho that may be wrong, i have no clue.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 22 July 2015 19:15 (eight years ago) link

i'd buy an ilx funding t-shirt

Mordy, Wednesday, 22 July 2015 19:17 (eight years ago) link

not enormously important but the board new answers link on each thread on SNA ("last updated n minutes ago by username on <board>") links to the www-less hostname from the www version of the SNA page, which is confusing when you think you're logged in and suddenly you're logged out

sorry if this is wrong thread, did not seem like a mod request or a protest either. thank you for reading

if we're just not meant to use the www version of the URL any more, hmm, that's doable but will take some clearing of browser and muscle memory

a passing spacecadet, Wednesday, 9 September 2015 21:08 (eight years ago) link

btw it's been doing this for a week or two or maybe more as I wasn't logging in much for a while but I forgot to say so

and if it hasn't bothered anyone else in that time it's p. low priority obv

a passing spacecadet, Wednesday, 9 September 2015 21:09 (eight years ago) link

i have also noticed this and been mildly annoyed.

mattresslessness, Wednesday, 9 September 2015 23:16 (eight years ago) link

frequently, clicking on a link in a thread sends me back to the top of the thread i'm already in. a second click on the link then takes me where it's supposed to. this has been happening for months - not a big deal, but i'm curious now. me? ILX? or mozilla?

A poll where you have to choose a digit and results are shown as the average score

niels, Friday, 2 October 2015 19:12 (eight years ago) link

scale of this poll type should always be same so comparisons can be made between poll results

Using random thread function, pick the liveliest looking candidate from the first page of returns and bump with "did we ever sort this out?" regardless of conclusion of thread heretofore

pplains, Tuesday, 24 November 2015 02:30 (eight years ago) link

"Chameleon" feature introduced but only waterface can use it. He would have the ability to post under any username.

Treeship, Tuesday, 24 November 2015 02:31 (eight years ago) link

Not chameleon I guess so much as shape shifter. Other users can habe other superpowers too, all designed to cause maximum havoc

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 24 November 2015 05:36 (eight years ago) link

Still think it's a good idea to have a poll type where you have to choose a value on a scale of 1-10 (or 1-77) and results are shown as the average score

niels, Tuesday, 24 November 2015 13:31 (eight years ago) link

it would be really useful to be able to order thread title search results by *most recently updated*

prevent users from ever being able to change their usernames. I hate having to keep track of who's who.

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 24 November 2015 15:54 (eight years ago) link

Be able to change the number of posts a thread will show before going to "Skipping #### messages at this point, click here to read them all" mode.

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 24 November 2015 15:58 (eight years ago) link

"Fishbowl" discussions. Some threads will have just 10 or so users posting, maybe people who know a lot about the given topic, but everyone can read the thread. Then there will be another thread where everyone else discusses the "main" thread, scrutinizing posters the way commentators do after a presidential debate.

i think it would be cool to print out ilx and house it in a reference library somewhere remote like marfa, texas. the collection is accessible to the public but you can't check out any of the files. the librarian's salary is paid for through the yearly drive

Treeship, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 02:28 (eight years ago) link

dibs on librarian job

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 02:29 (eight years ago) link

Some classic threads could be made into podcasts. Each poster would be voiced by a different actor. No celebrities though, we should support struggling artists

Treeship, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 02:31 (eight years ago) link

Maybe one or two could be performed live. The dialogue would just be the thread but other aspects of the performance -- the setting, costumes, the actors' gestures and intonations -- would put all of it in a different context. Like, the discussion might be about mia but thats not whats really going on with the characters

Treeship, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 02:37 (eight years ago) link

Maybe instead of performing threads as plays, we could film them as porn parodies. (Again, we'd hire outside talent for this).

Treeship, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 02:42 (eight years ago) link

was with you until that last post

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 03:48 (eight years ago) link
