I think italics help that ASCII owl achieve some sort of 3-D effect!

THOSE GIFS!!!!!
Did anyone else ever have to dig through owl shit for a school project? Find anything other than rat bones?

Fetchboy, Monday, 27 July 2009 09:47 (fourteen years ago) link

(I think the gifs are kinda cute, too, but I know, I'm weird.)

We saw some real owls weekend before last, in a display in the town centre. They had some tiny ones and SOME FUCKING MAHOOSIVE ones too. Awesome.

I am saddest about missing the Lambeth Country Show because apparently they had an OWL SHOW.

But I was too ill with the swine flu to go.

I am waiting for Owl Flu. I think that will be the most kick-ass virus yet.

Some owls have one ear higher than the other.

Gigolo Grasiento (baaderonixx), Monday, 27 July 2009 10:54 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm making an Owlet sweater for my kid. It also in adult size. If ever I get around to finishing this and the capelet, I could make Kate one. Yes, if I keep my promise, Kate will have her own knitting slave. :-)

Unregistered Googler (stevienixed), Monday, 27 July 2009 14:25 (fourteen years ago) link

OMG, that is amazing. Just think... OWL CAPELET. BELGIAN TECHNO OWL CAPELET.

OK, I am going to have to learn to knit. That's the end of it. Funny how I am the only crafty beats DJ who cannot knit.

Your Mother Smells Of Elderflower (Masonic Boom), Monday, 27 July 2009 14:26 (fourteen years ago) link

Hah! The capelet is actually pretty straight forward. But there's one "difficult" part (the TUCK part). We'll see when we get there.

The Owl sweater, even in adult size, is just plain AMAZINg.

That knitted owl detail on the jumper is A+++.

Also, awesome to see proper stair runner carpet and rods. If we ever manage to move house I'll be copying that look.

Bill A, Wednesday, 21 October 2009 12:33 (fourteen years ago) link

It's still hanging in my daughter's closet. I tend to knit 'n' discard. hah. But it was a JOY to knit. I plan to knit one for myself some day.

That's a great grey owl and those things are fookin' huge IRL too.

Obscured by clowns (NickB), Tuesday, 10 November 2009 13:55 (fourteen years ago) link

In some pictures the black and white markings are a lot stronger, and it gives them this real black metal corpsepaint look.

Obscured by clowns (NickB), Tuesday, 10 November 2009 14:01 (fourteen years ago) link

If I saw that thing bombing towards me, I'd definitely think MY TIME IS UP. And I'm not even a mouse or rabbit or a small child or whatever they normally eat.

Reminds me of the evil demon/hero in that Owl Masters book.

Persian Pickle (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 10 November 2009 14:06 (fourteen years ago) link

(Also, is it just me, or have owls finally passed wolves as the familiar of choice in hipster culture this past year?)
