my friend's 16yo nephew is a (self-described) brony

he's had some family/emotional/etc issues, so everyone's just happy that he's into something 'social' and that they know what to get him for xmas

i was walking around wicker park in chicago sunday afternoon when a guy yelled at me "hey! did you see there was a PIG over there?" and sure enough when i rounded the corner he was motioning towards i found a black potbellied pig in a harness and leash held by a 15 year old boy in a Brony t-shirt

the kid explained it was the pig's birthday and his parents were inside buying it a cupcake

A student in my reporting class wrote her story about bronies at Supercon two weeks ago. While editing I didn't hide my laughing.

My cousin grew out of his brony phase and both him and his little sister refuse to even watch the show anymore.

I know he expressed disdain for the newer seasons but I'm hoping that's not the main reason he quit being a brony. Honestly, from the handful of episodes I've seen, the only thing that made the Lauren Faust seasons unique was the pure Disney magic vibe coming from all the core morals and friendship that it preached. They ran out of core morals for the later seasons. And all the glitter had settled.

The English department at my university /hates/ bronies. A few of them took some fiction writing classes a couple of years ago and wrote nothing but MLP fanfiction. They actually managed to recruit more bronies through those fanfics.

It was a strange time.
