i figure it like this: i'm gay, and i knew when i was 9. and being gay and straight are very different. common decency dictates that unless you personally understand what it feels to be a gay 9 year old, then you probably shouldn't comment on it.

my favourite bit of the video is the bit where she has a specific knife for every type of man who could fuck her over

it's really brilliantly directed imo. so many big event videos these days are hyped to the gills and are just damp squibs to trend for a day and get forgotten by the next, this is one to rewatch and see something new every time. really well paced, tons of details, fits the song

i also wonder whether the hotel room scene echoing the hotel room scene in girlhood where they sing along to "diamonds" was intentional...

Is this a revenge fantasy? I'm having trouble seeing that context, unless this guy messed up her credit. Just seems like a couple minutes of pretending you are in a movie.

Also why does she drag the box into the house by herself in the beginning, while for pretty much the rest of the video her friends are doing all the work while she strikes music video poses?

Don't get me wrong she is awesome and this is prob my favorite video she's done since Umbrella but feels sloppily written. I'm sure the artifice is part of the point. All the acting is really believable and it's well-shot. The cinematography is really clever, like that shot in the pool, the scene framed half-underwater.

Maybe it is too good a tease for a Rihanna-starring action movie that sadly isn't actually being made. I would much rather see this movie than any of the real movies coming out this year.

What are her motives? What's her relationship to these other characters? Maybe it is best there is no full movie or full explanation, the viewer can make their own. To everybody it can be something different.

Stargate have only had a couple semi-big U.S. hits (Fifth Harmony's "Worth It" and Iggy Azalea's "Black Widow") in the 2 years since wonderfully destroying their own formula on Ylvis's "The Fox." i liked their track on the last Ne-Yo album.
