5/5s is my favorite in terms of design

tbh I even like the 5c design

I like how it doesn't feel so fragile and vulnerable, the only recent iPhone that doesn't feel like it needs a case

btw as newer iPhone users my wife and I got otterboxes for our 5ss but when they arrived in the mail we had to say gtfo with this clunky-ass garbage, fuck these ugly cases

we sent them back

gettin a galaxy s6. hope apple's wounds heal with time.

i didn't use a case for a year with my 5, still haven't with my 6, cases are so unnecessary

for the 6+ it's essential to have a case or it will slip right out. something super slim and lo pro tho with some grip, like the incipio feather.

i6 designs are pretty lame i agree. 5 was the best cos it was like the 4 but slightly slimmer and slightly lighter. still like the way that one looks/feels.

i've had my 5 for abt 2 and a half years, never used a case.

Only case I would consider is one of those ones that has the credit card and money insert

lost my 5 bc it fell out of my pocket. FA returned two causes: short pants and no case.

Cases are for grip only. I'm under no illusion that they would offer any kind of protection.

otterboxes are ugly and clunky and i have one and they are p much bullet proof, i've dropped this motherfucker so many times, i drop it on purpose, fuck the world

p much the worst thing that happens is the glass breaks and u cn get that fix down the corner (i have never broken the glass)

i replaced the charging port that i broke by using a bootleg cable tho

I never cracked a screen until the 5. I've cracked the screen on both the 5 and 6. My impression is that if you don't have a case on either of those phones, you are tempting fate in the worst way.

replacing screen also not that cheap or easy imo

i replaced my 3g screen myself but i think it's basically impossible to DIY now

I think it's prob in this thread or the other one, but I dropped my 6 face down on a rock, took it to an Apple store, and they had the whole thing replaced and ready in 45 minutes.

I had applecare and had to pay the accidental damage deductible, but I think w/o that it was like $100

The ridiculous part was that I did it the night before driving to Chicago with a friend, so I just started trying to line up an appointment time with the time when we'd be driving past the right suburban Apple store, and it worked

urgh that guy has done it lots of times, i want someone who has done it once to tell me what it felt like

it felt a little scary but i was proud of myself after, im not like super mr fixit or anything fwiw

just take a systematic approach go slow and u shd be fine, make sure you have a good container to hold the screws etc, theres prob like a 5% chance u will break ur phone

I took the case off of my 6 yesterday for the first time in a year and remembered why I use one - no grip on all those smooth, rounded edges. It felt like it was trying to get free of my hands. And the case I use has a soft inside w/ a hard shell, so it absorbs shock when I manage to drop the phone anyway.

The apple care deductible for replacing my cracked screen was $80. Still pretty expensive, IMO.

my 6 case has almost nothin to do with pro (i've trained myself to assume if i drop it, even in the case, it's breaking- to lessen future psychological agony when i drop it and it breaks), it's all about grip. i fumbled the naked 6 like 3 times, and always managed to save it. i really like the feel of the super sleek rubber apple cases, but they are almost too sticky in some pockets.

$80 is indeed expensive but I am willing to believe Je55e and I are particularly skilled at breaking things

I never broke a phone until the 5. I've broken both the 5 and the 6. I drop my phone at the same rate that I always have.

I've ruined a number of phones with water but never broke one until the screen on my iPhone 6 broke. And that wasn't from dropping but (I'm pretty sure) from squeezing myself around a badly parked car with the phone in my pocket.
