The first verses usually establish that the singer was initially a house slave. He is then charged with protecting the master out of doors—and his horse as well—from the "blue-tailed fly". This is possibly the blue-bottle fly (Calliphora vomitoria or Protophormia terraenovae), but probably the mourning horsefly (Tabanus atratus), a bloodsucking pest with a blue-black abdomen

The croquet tournament was notable as it marked the first appearance of women at Olympic level. Madame Despres, Madame Filleaul Brohy and Mademoiselle Ohnier were eliminated in the first round of competition along with Marcel Haentjens of Belgium, the only entrant from outside France. A single paying spectator attended the tournament, an elderly English gentleman who travelled from Nice for the early stages. An unofficial two-ball handicap competition was also held.

In September 2006, he formed a new British political party known as the Blah! Party.[9]

"But we believe that voting is an important part of the democratic process, and we want the Blah! Party to be the party of protest; a channel through which the people of the U.K. can vent their dissatisfaction at nonsensical everyday things, and protest against the government and the current crop of political parties."[10]

The party entered into a sponsorship deal with Seabrook Crisps in September 2006.[11]

Hidden political message[edit]
According to Dave Mackey's Batfink site, there's a two-part political message hidden in two episodes, disguised as sped-up gibberish. He translates the message as follows:

Part 1 (in "Spin the Batfink"): "The most dangerous force in America today is Walter Reuther and his political machine. It’s time we realized that they intend to run this country. When the smut publishers put a..."[4]
Part 2 (in "Bride and Doom"): "...dirty cover on a clean book, let’s take it at face value and call it trash and dump it in the river."[5]

Rod currently lives London and is semi retired, although still writes material mainly for his own amusement. Rod is also a naturist, after being introduced to the lifestyle by friend and colleague Freddy Marks in the late 1980s. The pair regularly holiday with their families at popular nudist spots across Europe. Burton himself has appeared in a charity calendar, completely naked, except for a tambourine covering his modesty.[citation needed]

In England

After Martin V was elected as the new pope in November 1417, Poggio, although not holding any office, accompanied his court to Mantua in late 1418, but, once there, decided to accept the invitation of Henry, Cardinal Beaufort, bishop of Winchester, to go to England. His five years spent in England, until returning to Rome in 1423, were the least productive and satisfactory of his life.[4]

Hamlet is the most skilled of all at rhetoric.

okay the wikipedia article on Hamlet is a goldmine*

The Ghost demands that Hamlet avenge him. "Well said, old mole!" replies the prince, and he tells Horatio and the rest of his crew that he is going to "put on an antic disposition" from this point on and that if they run into him around the castle they should not say such things as "Well, we know," or "We could, an if we would," Or "If we list to speak," or "There be, an if they might,"[7] that would give him away. He is, however, uncertain of the Ghost's reliability.

apparently in the span of thirteen episodes:

Due to the negative critical and public reaction to the show, the producers made changes to Mrs. Columbo almost immediately. The spin-off was renamed Kate Columbo, followed by Kate the Detective, and finally Kate Loves a Mystery. The main character was likewise renamed "Kate Callahan"; all references to and ties with the original Columbo show were dropped. After this, a reference was made in the show to Kate's divorce: the character was no longer Mrs. Columbo nor was she meant to have any connection with him at all.

The picture looks terrible, but in a really strange way. Why do the 'RZ-1' and the screen look very sharp compared to everything else?

écorché (S-), Wednesday, 20 May 2015 08:13 (eight years ago) link

In the file history and rights information for that image it says it is a derivative work of this:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stolmen%26samplers_@_bdu%27s_studio.jpg

In that photo, the RZ-1 is the lower of two machines to the left of the main rig. The photo is shot from a completely different angle and you cannot see the RZ-1's screen (it appears to be turned off) or the Casio logo (it is partially obscured by something). If that file information is correct, some incredibly heavy image manipulation must have been done to make it appear that it was photographed from directly overhead. In addition, the illuminated screen and Casio logo must surely be separate elements pasted in from another source image. Either that or the image of the keyboard rig is not the source for the RZ-1 image, contrary to what is stated.

Incidentally I used to have an RZ-1. I bought it new in 1987 and was excited by the idea you could sample sounds into it, but one problem I found was that the sampled sounds wouldn't line up with the onboard sounds. The sampler recorded a few milliseconds of noise or space at the front before the (for example) snare hit, making the sampled snare sound late compared to the onboard sounds when combined in a sequence. The Wikipedia page mentions this (with no citation). I had forgotten that I edited it about five years ago to add that information.

in photoshop an image can be stretched like this fairly easily. then, yes, they've pasted on the logos and screen, and touched up the edges and added fake depth.

I don't know why they bothered when the finished image looks like absolute shit. Admittedly the other RZ-1 images on Flickr are set to 'All Rights Reserved' but the owners might be willing to waive that if you bothered to ask them nicely for permission to use the image on Wikipedia. There are loads more on Google Images, as well.
