both songs seem to be nostalgia for the movie fan experience itself, but as records they make something new

Rolling electric piano + Ferry's vocal vs Frippertronics + one of Debbie's best lyrics
I love how Ferry's still figuring out how he wants to sing so he plays with a variety of voices.

I think those are Chris Stein's lyrics though. Interestingly there's no gender reference in the song

I love how Ferry sings all over that LP - you guys might have talked about his approach in the podcast, Alfred - the number of vocalist moods on "If there is something," for example.
Stein writing with her singing in mind is more than a possibility here. TWO movie trib songs on that side - Pretty Baby, which was co-written by Harry and mentions La Dolce Vita of all things.

I just checked the Victor Bockris book about Blondie and in it Debbie says Stein wrote "Fade Away" in 1974.. so possibly even before Blondie?

not before Debbie Harry was working with him, no

disappointed that I couldn't find a live track of Blondie with Fripp doing Fade Away. I could find them doing a cover of "I Feel Love" in 1979 together, which I wish were all it could have been, but it just ain't quite. Great gesture though.

If you'd worked "Time Fades Away" into this, I would have voted.

If wishes were Crazy Horses, em....sorry to say I don't know that one. Will look up. Will listen to. Nobody ever held my hand and had me listen to Neil Young, so I'm still catching up with the collection.
