I would have included it otherwise. I used my Mp3tag directory to make up my list--you can arrange everything you have by song length. (Assume you can do that with an iPod, too.)

QUESTIONS
1) Do live versions count as separate noms if they are formally released and also notably different from the original?

2) If something is technically a medley but contained/released within one track, is that acceptable?

Check that--my mp3 of "Marquee Moon" runs 9:11, but Wikipedia has it at 9:58, and so does my vinyl LP. Either my mp3 is abridged (by a lot), or the LP time has been incorrect all along. Technically, it falls short either way.

Wish I had more metal suggestions, but most of my favourite epics are under 10mins.

Does the 'no classical' rule rule out Robert Ashley and Alvin Lucier? Where does classical end?

Personally I'd say that "classical" is a piece of music with a score that could, theoretically, be played on "standard" instrumentation. So Arvo Part = classical, Alvin Lucier's I Am Sitting In A Room doesn't.
In C, I'm not sure about.

I'm slightly fuzzy on the rules: does AD2's "Restless Skylight Transistor Child" count? It's all one continuous track on my CD version of Tanz but its def a whole made up of discreet units with stopping and silence each time
