I'd never heard of Sun Hotel before, but these are good. Early Bright Eyes meets a less raucous (and ambitious) Titus Andronicus. Will be checking out the album.

I wanna be enthusiastic about that Makeshift Shelters effort, but eh, its just mostly ok for me on first listening. Lyrics are kinda entertaining though--that song about the punker than thou guy

Is this where we would talk about the latest Good Riddence and Strung Out albums too? Because while hardly reinventing the wheel both are surprisingly return to form. The GR in particular is pretty great.

Menzingers/Chumped a perfectly calibrated concert pairing. humped's vocal disclaimer about respecting space and boundaries while having fun carried over to make for a friendly, just-raucous-enough Menzingers crowd full of hand-on-heart singalong bros (and more than a few ecstatic fangirls)

Also I hope this is a safe space to say that I may be in love with the lead singer/guitarist from Chumped

i rate the beach slang, fall out boy + allison weiss. the fob is really a fantastic record and imo only suffers bc they've put out such high quality content as of late that it seems unremarkable. also like

the Wonder Years album held up p well for me, esp w/ my slightly edited playlist.

and despite my best efforts I was v bored with the TWIABPAIANLATD album. I would add that about half of the Turnover album was stellar. there was a killer EP in there.

Still can't believe that the FOB came out this year; seems years old by now. Some regional stuff - self-titleds from Carb On Carb (Flying Nun-ish indie group that've slowly transitioned into 90s emo/pop-punk; kinda Rainer Maria-ish ... half of the band is from Auckland's greatest group never to record a full-length album, Moron Says What) and Chinese Football (from 成都, v.much in a twinkle/American Football style).

I'm wrapping this playlist for the year. It has been updated with a few new adds (The Max Levine Ensemble, Title Fight, Chumped, Colleen Green) and includes every track mentioned on thread that is available via Spotify's US catalogue as of EOY 2015.
