I listened to it in podcast form - not bad when divorced from commercial breaks and having to actually see the really weird/corny animations

Clay, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 03:55 (nine years ago) link

i dont get it. yall have music in your city? i recommend it for driving it is a very good audio companion to driving. a lot of cars have radios installed for free and they can access some pretty good music stations. now with smartphones somepeople plug their smartphones into their cars that makes music come out too.

brosario nawson (m bison), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 03:56 (nine years ago) link

pods r so hot right now, everyone out there podding

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 03:57 (nine years ago) link

i download podcasts to my smartphone and plug that into my car!

k3vin k., Tuesday, 17 February 2015 03:58 (nine years ago) link

ok i guess i understand but does your phone also play music?

brosario nawson (m bison), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 03:58 (nine years ago) link

music is kind of like podcasting except the talking is organized according to time and melodies and also there are tracks that you can skip if you dont like that melodic talking as much.

brosario nawson (m bison), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 03:59 (nine years ago) link

i listen to music podcasts sometimes

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 04:01 (nine years ago) link

do they talk about music or sing about podcasts?

brosario nawson (m bison), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 04:03 (nine years ago) link

the thing about podcasts is they're very now if i wanna hear zach lowe and jeff van gundy talk about basketball it's gonna be irrelevant a week later

k3vin k., Tuesday, 17 February 2015 04:03 (nine years ago) link

those music stations on the radio have songs about having sex sometimes, thats pretty thrilling if youve never heard.

brosario nawson (m bison), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 04:04 (nine years ago) link

do the songs make sex noises or?

Clay, Tuesday, 17 February 2015 04:08 (nine years ago) link

man look SOMETIMES im not even fucking kidding there are some

brosario nawson (m bison), Tuesday, 17 February 2015 04:09 (nine years ago) link

lmao sneak peak of the third part of a three part series

lag∞n, Friday, 13 March 2015 21:25 (nine years ago) link

lol how can you try to read that and not swiftly come to the conclusion that however bad simmons is drew magary is much much worse.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 13 March 2015 21:50 (nine years ago) link

they r just both bad in their own ways god bless

lag∞n, Friday, 13 March 2015 22:14 (nine years ago) link

I strongly dislike magary but that column is basically what he's good for

Clay, Friday, 13 March 2015 22:31 (nine years ago) link

simmons is a force for good in this world and if you disagree you're kidding yourself. that dude is pathetic

k3vin k., Friday, 13 March 2015 23:28 (nine years ago) link

nah/fair

mookieproof, Friday, 13 March 2015 23:30 (nine years ago) link

too-powerful for his own good yet benevolent media mogul is a narcissist, frankly i'm shocked

k3vin k., Friday, 13 March 2015 23:32 (nine years ago) link

Dude has basically become the George RR Martin of basketball blogging

god i was reading magary do that same shtick like 10 years ago. i am amazed by ppl who possess this bottomless reservoir of bile even as they age.

call all destroyer, Friday, 13 March 2015 23:56 (nine years ago) link

i guess will leitch has changed his shtick? not sure who else has, tho

mookieproof, Saturday, 14 March 2015 00:05 (nine years ago) link

it takes less energy to be a sanctimonious tool than it does to be so pissed about everything all the time

call all destroyer, Saturday, 14 March 2015 01:18 (nine years ago) link

neither really takes any energy at all

mookieproof, Saturday, 14 March 2015 01:24 (nine years ago) link

hes also a writer which is what the piece is about

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:23 (nine years ago) link

oh come on it's 100% about professional jealousy

k3vin k., Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:32 (nine years ago) link

im not going to speculate on the motivation, and i apparently have been following drew mcagry much less closely over the years than the rest of you, im barely aware of his work, but there is some genuinely terrible simmons writing/thought excerpted in that piece

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:34 (nine years ago) link

also suspect too simmons will at some point in the near future be just a writer and not a media mogul again and wont have employing zach lowe to speak for him, what then simmons appoligists

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:35 (nine years ago) link

btw is crazy how many ppl there are writing abt basketball on grantland right now lol

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:37 (nine years ago) link

also if youre going to put all the good basketball writing on grantland in the simmons credit side you have to deduct for the shit ton of truly awful prosumer entertainment/pop culture converage

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:40 (nine years ago) link

anyway all of that is a lil inside baseball for me i prefer to just appreciate the final product on its own merits and the fact is simmons is in the midst of publishing a months long three part list of which he just gave a sneak peak of the last piece, this is ridiculous, and the list isnt even any good or insightful and seems more about his own solipsistic ideas abt narrative than it is understanding basketball

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:44 (nine years ago) link

i should start a grantland thread where i just effusively praise molly lambert constantly

Clay, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:44 (nine years ago) link

ya i like her, just read the thing where she went to the avn awards

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:45 (nine years ago) link

there is so much greatest character actor ever tournament bs on that site tho truly the lowest of the low

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:46 (nine years ago) link

For every boom in Hollywood, there must also be a bust. So while those of us who watch TV for fun and profit have spent the past 15 years reveling in a tidal wave of brilliant acting, risk-taking storytelling, and remarkable performances, our friends across the aisle in the multiplex have had a far less festive experience.

hate hate HATE prosumer pretend industry garbage like this too

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:47 (nine years ago) link

her work is smart but breezy in a way v v few writers would even attempt, it is wonderful xps
