Why is casual racism/sexism more accepted in video games than other forms of media (these days)?

There are plenty of comments acting as if this guy rolling a car is hilarious, mocking him but at the same time nodding to the fact he's saying all the right memes.

it's a weird mixture of things... watching that video i get the sense that he's 90% joking/putting on a character for the entertainment and approval of the faceless mass of 8channers he doesn't know but desperately wants that approval/infamy/personal encyclopediadramatica page or w/e -- that's the impression i get from tons of chan/reddit nerds that i've witnessed, not uncommon in internet communities but a lot worse in internet communities built around totally lonely angry boys

but then there's that extra 10% driving him above and beyond and it's combination terrifying/sad as fuck

damned if i'm going to link it, but did you watch that video where he has a "duel of honor" where he and a friend slapfight and nunchuk beat some rando? i made it to the part where he puts a gun to his head and starts screaming about a citizens arrest
genuinely fucking crazy.

Has no one played tomb raider before, Lara is the perfect example of a female who can become strong, smart and still seem feminine.

this is only tangentially related to gaming but it was a choice between this thread and the "serious discussion about MRA issues" thread and I have absolutely no desire to have a serious discussion about this

No you could take an afternoon, not know how to use a camera, no need for proper ISO, aperture, shutter, or even a fucking color balance, hell your footage could be completely over exposed or crushed in black to the point where the image can't be made out

Thanks for sharing this. I am always fighting the urge to scream, "THIS IS NOT ART!!!!" when I'm at museums and this conceptual manure is proudly displayed. Like this thing in the Fred Meijer Art Gardens in Grand Rapids, MI. There's plenty of dubious modern "art" in that collection like this crap or this Henry Moore butt plug, but this is a fucking BOX.

What I respect about Warhol's work is that he pretty much copped to the fact what he did was kind of a scam as opposed to tarting it up as being some Really Grand Statement; the artifice was the art of it, but the viewer/buyer was expected to be bright enough to understand they're being played.

"this thing" = https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/10273719_10152925164451164_354650544822388240_n.jpg?oh=a005d48ca6cb0961a7e32cfd06720bf8&oe=5555A9A5

this is the best conspiracy theory i've seen yet:

[–]link_maxwell 8 points 6 hours ago

I very much hate to say it, but welcome to "art". If your script focuses on sci-fi/fantasy themes, then it's already considered to be a "lesser" work than one which is more "realistic" and focuses on controversial topics.

You can blame good old O. Henry for this. He basically shat all over the concept of fantasy (and sci-fi) ever being as good as his own stories, and the critical world has mostly followed him ever since. Even in the SF/F ghetto, the major prizes tend to be won by those people who make the controversial/progressive stuff over the people who make enjoyable works.
