Also, my neighbour just did one of these with her college-aged daughter, and her friends and their mothers. I can't think of anything less fun that's supposed to be fun.

am i dreaming or isn't this a thread already? with the old lady who made the painting bad and one of ilx's doctor's speculating that may have a neurological cause?

I don't know, but her painting immediately reminded me of William Utermohlen's self-portraits, which document the progression of his dementia over several years. but I don't like that kind of speculation — it's just as likely that the she's a rebellious Red Hat type who refuses to submit to the usual wine & canvas orthodoxy.

(fyi I am not a medical doctor or even an ilx doctor)

yeah, the m lady is about 20 years too young to be a Mildred now that I think about it. she might be a Mary or a Martha, though.

my mom attended two meetup events with this theme (probably at some bar/restaurant?). one of her paintings is a country cottage and the other is a beach, and she liked the cottage one so much she was thinking of framing it. so yeah, this is the kind of thing people's parents sign up for on meetup.com.

In my area I think it's like a local art supplies store that offers it. I think wine is included. I can imagine most of my older female relatives would LOVE it.
