It hadn't occurred to me either. That Wimbledon pic looks like the organisers have them on a careful seating plan tbh.

George Michael's in there as well.

people you fully expected to appear in a photo together at some point but never have?

I would totally expect to see a photo of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen together but I can't find one. Same goes for Lou Reed with Jim Morrison (who apparently met at early Velvets shows in LA).

Looking at that pic closely it's clear that it was actually taken at Live Aid. You can see the logo on the laminate that the guy in the middle is wearing (who is he?). And is that Bryan Adams in the left foreground?

The fellow in the middle looks a bit like John Reid, Elton's manager. But probably isn't.

Is there something strange about the way Princess Diana looks in that shot? Something odd about the focus or the light? It looks like a cut and paste job but I can't work out why.

Looks legit to me.

A little GIS-ing reveals that it's actually Jim Beach, Queen's manager.

gah, right! i knew i recognised him as some kind of mid-80s megabucks manager.

Tuomas, Thursday, 8 January 2015 20:41 (nine years ago) link

I'm with Tuomas on this, I don't recognize the other guys. Wil Wheaton has a beard.

apparently finds E-40 far more entertaining than Fresh Prince, or maybe the years have just softened his stance on hip-hop

Don't feel bad, sic, I didn't know who E-40 was.

This has been making the rounds on FB today...not "Unexpected" as this was backstage at Bowie's 50th Birthday Concert, but volume man, volume. (Also, if we need to kick off a 'Dave Grohl + Weirdos' thread, here's the place to start.)

I like how the then-Gordon-Moore's got Coco into the picture.

Is that what it looked like backstage at MSG at that concert? I thought all these people would have contract riders specifying tibetan wall paintings, elegant furniture, fine wines, fresh flowers in abundance etc.

I guess that's DiCaprio on the background, but who are the other two? Is the dude in the middle 50 Cent?

Tuomas, Sunday, 11 January 2015 15:59 (nine years ago) link

It's the Uncle from the Fresh Prince and Michelle Obama.

I would totally expect to see Alice and Lennon together, if i remember correctly they were pretty tight

Then again based on this thread, i dont know if Cooper is eligible because it wouldnt surprise me to see him in a picture with Ghandi at this point.

who is the lady in the hat?

#Research (stevie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 10:48 (nine years ago) link

Haha I almost managed to convince myself that Alice's "Exorcist" T-shirt was a The Korgis T-shirt. That would have been much better.

Tim, Thursday, 5 February 2015 10:59 (nine years ago) link

who is the lady in the hat?

Alice's wife Sheryl, I think.
