I saw her perform last year and she remains a babe.

LOVE that Poppy Family LP cover - I have never seen one, even though I have the CD.

Mr. Poppy, of course, is Terry Jacks, who would later look back on his seedier days as so many seasons in the sun.

ST11261 (1974) was the sixth album released by Brewer & Shipley.

The album's title refers to its Capitol Records catalog number, a device previously used by Peter, Paul & Mary (Album 1700, 1967), and which would later be used for albums released by Dave Davies (AFL1-3603, 1980) and Yes (90125, 1983).

This predates the '70s by a few months, and is a pretty good record, but it still belongs on this thread

There was some indie-pop band from the 90s (I forget who) that had a song called "Mike Love, Not War." Amazed he didn't get to that title first.

MaudAddam (cryptosicko), Saturday, 10 January 2015 18:11 (nine years ago) link

Smudge? Oranger?

Mike Love Not War was actually the working title for a solo album Mike Love recorded in the early '00s but never released, and it was also the title of this early '90s Beach Boys bootleg:

Squirt Does Its Thing

http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4147/5434053121_74bc2aba7c_n.jpg

It took me awhile to figure out what this 1970 album of "semi-soft music" was all about.... it's a promo LP for the Squirt soft drink (that's what the green bottle in her left hand is), mostly Herb Alpert covers but also one original song called "Tequila and Squirt", how appetizing. I was wondering why the corporate suits thought albums like this one would spur sales of a fizzy drink, but apparently the success of Coca-Cola's "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" spurred many attempts to replicate its popularity.

"Tequila and Squirt"

Worst buddy-cop show ever.

I just listened to this bangin' mullet rock from 1980 (but 70's-ish):

At least you can say the cover is memorable, if not artistic.

I kinda liked the first Point Blank album. Never heard the one you posted though.

well done soref, that's a great run there. "It's Better Than Working!" is so chummily dickish.

Worth pointing out for the non-Brits, the guy on the far left on the last cover wrote Can't Get You Out Of My Head for Kylie.
