I don't think I know how I eat Creme Eggs. My brain is messed up from writing about CRAPPY FUCKING STUART HALL AND NOAM CHOMSKY ESSAYS. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Ronan, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Forget the sex tourist thing, he's obviously a DRUGS tourist now.

I really fancy a creme egg. Would someone bring me one?

Emma, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

No pop off the top layer of rice paper and lick out the sherbert with your tongue.

Anna, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Oh God Ronan - I feel your pain, theories of how media is consumed. Manufacturing consent and moral panics?

Yuck.

Anna, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Curse these crazy out of order responses. I have a feeling that if I ate a creme egg in front of my mum these days, far from saying 'wahey girl' she would be even more disgusted and start muttering about how she cannot believe she sent me to Oxford (yes apparently she did the exams / interview / hard work etc.) if I was going to carry on like that.

Emma, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Yes.....Bourdieu, Hall, Chomsky, Sigal. And the worst part is it's meant to be like a diary of the class all year, and I fucking hate the lecturer, she's the one that prompted me to post two threads here moaning about politics.

I completely slated her, er....in a fair way, thank god she's not correcting it herself.

If I have to watch another Chomsky video I'll go insane.

Ronan, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

McDonalds now has IN STOCK.... The Creme Egg McFlurry. BLIMEY I've only had a McFlurry once and I wasn't too convinced, but this time... COR.

Sarah, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Have you had to all the bollocks about objectivity and gatekeeper theories yet?

(Our course was funny, we'd do the media academic side then go to a law lecture or a practical and have all the other lecturers start moaning aabout how academic theories hold no water IF YOU ARE A PROPER JOURNALIST AND NOT SOMEONE WHO PRATS ABOUT IN CLASSROOMS ALL DAY! Much bitterness, they'd all get drunk at Christmas parties and bicker)

sorry - chocolate.

Anna, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I wish I could write an essay on Stuart Hall, is it about the It's a knockout years? or the later commentating on Radio5?

Anna, yes, that is the real way I eat flying saucers, but Alan at my school once did it the way I described, he cried.

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

There should be an essay on the quest for a viable bar that uses white chocolate. Milky Bar has had the field to itself forever and is very unimaginative. Cadbury's Dream is a fair attempt but still a bit monotonous.

Tom, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

How about The Quiz Night Years?

RickyT, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Problem with white chocolate is that its taste isn't very strong and hence gets overwhelmed by anything else the bar might contain. Saying that white toblerones do seem to be quite popular but might be disqualified from the bar category due to infamous triangular prism shape.

RickyT, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

TOP DECK YOU MENTALISTS.

Ronan, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I like the toblerones that have dark chocolate at the bottom and white at the top, giving the impression of a snow-capped mountain.

ahhh, Quiz night, that was absolutely marvellous.

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Have none of you had the White Chocolate Chunky Kit Kat?

I admit, I haven't. IT LOOKS QUEER.

Sarah, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Lucky my toblerones are small and humble, so I don't confuse them with mountains.

Tom, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Top Deck?

Is this some Irish chocolate thing? Like Caramellos? (Which are lovely, but don't exist in Britain)

Anna, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

are top deck's not dairy milk with a white chocolate topping? hmmmm, odd.

Tom made joke of the day, tee hee

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Top Deck SHANDY!

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Yeah top decks are squares with half white and half dairy milk. not only do they look cool, they're dead nice too. FIND THEM. I hate white chocolate like Milky Bars but still

Ronan, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

The new white choc clunky kit kats are the BIZZNIZZ. I must admit I was dubious, but as soon as it went in my mouth I was in heaven. And the kitkat was nice too harhar.

Steve.n., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

hmmmmm, sounds a bit sickly to me, but I will try it.

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Did Top Deck shandy actually contain any beer?

RickyT, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I eat my Creme Egg by putting it in my mouth and chewing. I'm a simple man.

Ally C, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

All in one go? Blimey! I'm surprised you're not in the circus!

Emma, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Do they sell monster huge big creme eggs at the Baby Sainsbury's Emma or is your mouth tiny? A creme egg isn't that big!

Tom, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Yes well technically it would go in my mouth in one go but the extreme sweetness might make my face implode or something. Though now I am getting the urge to try this out.

Emma, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I am afraid I must be harbouring hidden THINGS deep down in my psyche as I bit the top off and lick the cream out from inside. NUM NUM, perhaps I shall undergo A Life Change. Ronan your Top Deck sounds sadly like what they used to do with Cappuccino Bars which sadly they haf stopped making. But not with coffee. YES keep the Jamaica Crunch (Jamaica JIZZ RAG MORE LIKE) but get rid of the NICE ONE?? Fcukers.

Emma perhaps he means the MINI Creme Eggs which are no good to mang nor WEE BEASTIE.

Sarah, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Re: half white / half brown chocolate. What about LIAISONS?

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

i haf a bad urge — inspired no doubt by three hours fact-checking an article abt le corbusier — to do a UK CHOC BARS top 100 to confound xwerxes and scare everyone else

as with crisps i am interested in the posh-middling-vulgar continuum, and haf a kneejerk enthusiasm for the despised end of the market, even when some of it taste a bit rub.

(do ppl still say rub?)

mark s, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

White chocolate kit kats rool. The biscuit tastes even more biscuity I thought.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Is Liasons one of those made-up-by-Nick things like Nuclear Weapons Top Trumps?

Tom, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

of course Marble bars = lovely oh mark, rub was sooo yesterday's thing.

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

(do ppl still say rub?)

Oh yes, I think so. Though I have decided it is spelled 'rubb'.

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

no Tom, liaisons are quite nice, truffle based things from the Galaxy stable.

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

what was that faux posh chocate that rula lenska and terry from minder advertised?

factoid i may have contributed to ilx already: alternative names for YORKIE BARS —— technical term, a "cantiline" bar — at market research stage were QUINN BAR and ROMBO BAR...

mark s, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

MY TROLLEY HAS LIAISONS (though now I'm not sure if they have white choc in them or not. There's definitely one newish one that does.)

Anyway, Liaisons are made by Galaxy and you can see them reviewed here, doubtas.

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

But Chris you are praline hata. How come you dig Liaisons?

I think we should all decamp to the Chocola te Bar Review forum.

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Nick, I am no praline or truffle hata, it's just that I prefer them in the order given above, I love all chocolate, where chocolate is concerned I am Barry White. I have an exception to this and that's coconut - yeuch, unless it's the cherry flavoured coconut in a cherry ripe, which is a lovely bar from Australia which features crystallized cherry in it's dark chocolate outer (and the easter egg has just this and is there fore the nummest easter egg)

and liaison is more truffle than praline surely?

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Egad - what new hell is this?

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

they're bloody horrible, steer clear. Nearly as nasty as mint drifters.

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

SWEET JESUS. I gave up chocolate at just the right time. What about the Champagne Crunchie though, another notorious low point, and the flagrant rip-off that was the Snickers-with-no-peanuts?

Tom, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Nadir or Apex?

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

champagne crunchie was the sweetest substance known to man and ended up being banned by the UN. plus it tasted foul. I do try to sample all these new bars, even when I know it's going to be horrible.

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I may draw the line at sodding Westlife though yeuch

chris, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

how did the king-size yorkie) earn the soubriquet "sweet taste of football"

mark s, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Can I just mention Charleston Chews at this point? Frozen, of course.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I think it is time for celebrity pundorsment to make its way from crisps (Salt n' Lineker, Cheese n' Owen) to chocolate bars. The Westlife bar was a complete missed opportunity, as the boys could have been part of a Wildlife Bar promotion. The 'sweet taste of football' king size Yorkie is just waiting for a "Dwight Yorkie" special edition. Fruit and Kanoute!

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Charleston Chews are DA BOMB!

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Combine chocolate and a campaign aimed at Sven, Picnic-y-Butt. On second thoughts that just sounds rude.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link
