cover isn't in the vein but "Whoa, Nellie!" by Nellie Furtado is kind of in this zone, saw it at at secondhand store the other day

man though dr casino I'm listening to that Phil Everly solo stuff right now and it's pretty nice!

hahaha i remember lolling at that Furtado title at the time...surely couldn't have been her idea, ugh.
If I were to check out only one Phil Everly solo record above, which should it be? "Phil's Diner" is the most appealing I gotta say...just a nice guy on a road trip getting a kick out of seeing his name on a sign...

ST11261 (1974) was the sixth album released by Brewer & Shipley. The album's title refers to its Capitol Records catalog number, a device previously used by Peter, Paul & Mary (Album 1700, 1967), and which would later be used for albums released by Dave Davies (AFL1-3603, 1980) and Yes (90125, 1983).

There was some indie-pop band from the 90s (I forget who) that had a song called "Mike Love, Not War." Amazed he didn't get to that title first.
― MaudAddam (cryptosicko), Saturday, 10 January 2015 18:11 (nine years ago) link
Smudge? Oranger?
Mike Love Not War was actually the working title for a solo album Mike Love recorded in the early '00s but never released, and it was also the title of this early '90s Beach Boys bootleg:

Squirt Does Its Thing
http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4147/5434053121_74bc2aba7c_n.jpg
It took me awhile to figure out what this 1970 album of "semi-soft music" was all about.... it's a promo LP for the Squirt soft drink (that's what the green bottle in her left hand is), mostly Herb Alpert covers but also one original song called "Tequila and Squirt", how appetizing. I was wondering why the corporate suits thought albums like this one would spur sales of a fizzy drink, but apparently the success of Coca-Cola's "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" spurred many attempts to replicate its popularity.
