these are great songs. is this a "surprise ep release"? if this is a trend -- e.g., burial, beyonce, d'angelo, maybe miguel (?) -- i'm all for it.

the guitar sound effects on "NWA" sound like he's been listening to Tom Ze.

"surprise" albums are def a thing right now but generally singles or little EPs like this don't have much advance promotion. I don't think there was a lot of Art Dealer Chic hype before the first one dropped. Big Sean dropping 4 songs at once a while back ended up being a good launching pad for his current single, so this does seem to be a format people might switch to instead of full mixtapes or dropping a single by itself.

yeah it's sort of an agreeable meeting point... you still get the opportunity to crowdsource a single out of ~3-4 songs w/o having to put out a full album's worth of material and dealing with all that encompasses

we shuddered about the miguel/chem bros track elsewhere iirc

personally i thought it was horrendously awful

isn't half as good as the worst track on this EP (of which there isn't one)

imo the miguel/chem bros song is fine, chorus is fun

i missed it but yeah i really like it. chaotic and allowing him to do his thing in a new environment
