the worst part is that james franco gets some satisfaction out of all of this

no. you guys are all wrong.
the funniest thing james franco ever did was mangling with one of his books' reviews on amazon so it appeared that it had 4 stars, when it actually only had 2.
before anyone went public on it, it got fixed though

so is it just individual theater-chains refusing to show the film or the studio cancelling it outright? this --

so the implication here is that the NK gov't hacked Sony in order to stop the release of this movie, and succeeded?
that scenario seems so unlikely and yet

I kinda can't believe the NK gov't could hack their way out of a paper bag with a butter knife

man all it takes is some sketchy theories about communists on the internet to get conservatives to treat a dogshit buddy comedy as a patriot cause celeb, and to treat degenerate hollywood as the USS Maine

The hackers behind the Sony attack have invoked comparisons to 9/11. They are right in at least one respect. Look where they attacked: The American film industry carries as much symbolic weight as did the World Trade Center. Culturally, perhaps more so. Hollywood movies are a monolithic U.S. export that have served to plant American notions of freedom and unbridled possibility in the minds of untold millions. From now on, filmmakers will think twice before crossing the next paranoid despot. That’s tragic.

It sounds like the government knows exactly who did what for whom, and is just trying to figure out the right way to explain how they know that.

The officials told NBC News the hacking attack originated outside North Korea, but they believe the individuals behind it were acting on orders from the North Koreans.
"We have found linkage to the North Korean government," according to a U.S. government source.
