I feel bad for this guy in a way that's has a sort of unique tinge to it -- like, "I feel bad for that guy" is sort of my default response for whenever somebody falls on hard times, even if they've done shitty things. But this guy sort of - like, his life ought to be easy. Creed had their big album at or near the exact peak of album sales, and got huge with a very young audience -- an audience that'd just now be hip to some remember-the-days shows; the publishing on "higher" alone should bought houses for anybody whose name was on the ASCAP registration, but not only that, My Own Prison is 6x platinum and Human Clay is 11x platinum. That's the U.S. alone. On the strength of their '97-99 alone absolutely everybody in Scott Stapp's camp including Stapp ought to have been set for life. Instead...this long collapse that's ugly, but not even spectacularly ugly, just, like...everyman ugly. Not giant abject failure, just, like, a market correction, where the world goes "oh, that's right, we don't care about that stuff." And every time he surfaces, it's hard not to feel kind of surprised that his band was ever as massive as they were
like, what's it like to actually be Scott Stapp
feel like I need to write a play about this or something, like an interminably long O'Neill-style play

i imagine that being that popular will warp the mind of all but the toughtest-minded folk, and he's probably living with said mind-warp (and likely delusions of importance turned into paranoia) ever since.

my stepfather abused my mother for a decade while I lived in the house and it was horrific, but that doesn't make him an uncompelling character. like, I'm glad he's in Hell, but I still feel bad for him -- really bad -- he was all fucked up. it's a God damned shame. I feel bad for people who are all fucked up, when their fucked-uppedness means they hurt other people I don't go "you were fucked up and yet somehow acted like you were fucked up, there goes any pity you might have merited"

She says he disappeared from their home in early October and hasn’t been telling her where he is. The paperwork shows she asserts Stapp has been doing so much amphetamines, crystal meth and steroids that he has become a paranoid shell who has threatened to kill himself and harm his family.
Among the text messages in the file:
▪ “Florida is not safe. Biological weapons on the way. U have to leave with kids and meet me in Atlanta.”
▪ “I’m coming to get you Satan and children. No mercy. You know how this ends. God created you and now God is ending you.”
▪ “God is also telling me something about Palm Springs and Nashville so there’s a connection somehow. He’s also telling me DEA for some reason.”
▪ “Wells Fargo working out my account problems. I’m out of gas. Haven’t eaten all day. I’m asking if they can spot me $1,000 so I don’t fall over from malnutrition.”
▪ “I wouldn’t doubt it if the CIA is behind Alcoholics Anonymous.”

An overall update
http://gawker.com/creed-singer-releases-more-bizarre-videos-says-heads-r-1664840202
All videos down, he posted this:
I'm going to step back and let God control everything from here on. I should have continued to do that before I allowed my hurt, frustration, and emotions take control and post those videos. All I can say is that the truth will set you (me) free, and I'm holding on to Jeremiah 29:11 and Isaiah 44:8. This is a test of faith, and I will NEVER give up or lose my faith. No matter what. This will be my last statement until after justice is served. Love to you all my friends.
Only things posted since have been classic rock listening updates.

Family members say Scott Stapp, the frontman for popular 1990s rock band Creed, recently threatened to kill President Barack Obama.Stapp's estranged wife Jaclyn and sister-in-law called 911 to report that the "very ill" rocker was riding a bike around his neighborhood, shirtless, claiming to be a CIA agent, according to a tape of the call obtained by TMZ and published Friday."He thinks he's part of the CIA," one of the women says on the recording. "He thinks they're trying to kill him, and he has a bunch of paperwork in his backpack that he's a CIA agent and he's supposed to assassinate Obama."The 911 call was made soon after Stapp returned home from a 72-hour hold in a psychiatric facility last month in Florida.TMZ reported that when police arrived on the scene, Stapp told them that his wife stole $6 million from him and retaliated against him for confronting her about it by calling the authorities. Police determined a psychiatric hold wasn't warranted, according to the report.Stapp also recorded a Facebook video last month in which he claimed to be the victim of a "vicious attack" and said the IRS had frozen his bank accounts. The video was later taken down.

18-30 was average age of onset last I was reading parameters, but I knew people with late-onset. for me that always seemed incredibly heartbreaking - I knew guys who'd lost lives they'd spent twenty years putting together. that said this sounds like too much meth or coke.

Certainly too much of any stimulant can cause psychosis, esp. if you're chronically sleep-deprived. Paranoid ideation isn't just experienced by schizophrenics.
Who knows what's going on here.
