The American Urological Association has projected that global warming will lead to an increased incidence of kidney stones in the United States by expanding the "kidney stone belt" of the southern United States.[26]

The choreography from the musical, in which the song was a show-stopping Cockney-inspired extravaganza, inspired a popular walking dance, done in a jaunty strutting style. The craze reached Buckingham Palace, with King George VI and Queen Elizabeth attending a performance and joining in the shouted "Oi" which ends the chorus."

A member of the Nazi Party drew attention to it in 1939 by declaring 'The Lambeth Walk' (which had become popular in swing clubs in Germany) to be "Jewish mischief and animalistic hopping" as part of a speech on how the "revolution of private life" was one of the next big tasks of National Socialism in Germany. However the song continued to be popular with the German public and was even played on the radio, particularly during the war as part of the vital task of maintaining public morale.

In 1942, Charles A. Ridley of the Ministry of Information made a short propaganda film, Lambeth Walk - Nazi Style, which edited existing footage taken from Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will to make it appear they were dancing to "The Lambeth Walk". The propaganda film was distributed uncredited to newsreel companies, who would supply their own narration.[3] Joseph Goebbels placed Ridley on a Gestapo list for elimination if Britain was defeated.

Friedrich Wilhelm August Heinrich Ferdinand Steuben (born Friedrich Wilhelm Ludolf Gerhard Augustin von Steuben; September 17, 1730 – November 28, 1794), also referred to as the Baron von Steuben (fon shtoy' bin), was a Prussian-born military officer. He served as inspector general and Major General of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He is credited with being one of the fathers of the Continental Army in teaching them the essentials of military drills, tactics, and disciplines.[1] He wrote Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troops of the United States, the book that served as the standard United States drill manual until the War of 1812. He served as General George Washington's chief of staff in the final years of the war. 8:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::>

Even as a child, Paul showed great talent in all of the arts, including music, drawing, acting, directing, and writing screenplays and comedies. At school, he was always known as the comic of his class, already presenting comedic skits for his classes at the age of 10. He could also play piano, including a "mean" boogie-woogie, and his dad would join in playing bass with a self-made bucket, stick and string. Indeed, his house was full of joy, music, fun and laughter, which may have contributed to his pursuing his fields of movie and television film director, screenwriter and producer. Paul's off-the-cuff jokes as a child were hilarious.

Michel Lotito (June 15, 1950 - June 25, 2007[citation needed]) was a French entertainer, born in Grenoble, famous for deliberately consuming indigestible objects. He came to be known as Monsieur Mangetout ("Mister Eats All").[1]

His performances involved the consumption of metal, glass, rubber and other materials. He disassembled, cut-up, and consumed bicycles, shopping carts, televisions, a Cessna 150,[2] and other items. The Cessna 150 took roughly two years to be "eaten", from 1978 to 1980. He began eating unusual material as a teenager around 16 years of age and performed publicly from 1966.

Lotito claimed not to suffer ill effects from consuming the materials, even after consuming materials usually considered poisonous. When performing, he consumed around 1 kilogram (2.2 lb) of material daily, preceding it with mineral oil and drinking considerable quantities of water during the meal.[3] He said, however, that bananas and hard-boiled eggs made him sick. It is estimated that between 1959 and 1997, Lotito "had eaten nearly nine tons of metal."[4]

Lotito died on June 25, 2007, ten days after his 57th birthday. He is buried at Grenoble Cemetery.

Lotito's method for eating all of this metal was to break it into small pieces before attempting to eat it. He then drank mineral oil and continued to drink water while swallowing the metal bits. This acted as a lubricant to help the metal slide down his throat. He also had no problem "passing" his unusual diet.[5][6]

David Thomas Rees (/riːs/ reece;[1] born June 22, 1972) is a cartoonist and humorist whose best-known work combines bland clip art with outrageous "trash talk" to incongruous effect. More recently, he has found a second career in the artisanal craft of pencil sharpening.

...

In July 2010, Rees announced his Artisanal Pencil Sharpening service, where for starting at $40.00, people can mail in their own pencils to be sharpened by him, or receive a sharpened pencil provided by the craftsman. According to the site, "...craftsman David Rees still practices the age-old art of manual pencil sharpening. His artisanal service is perfect for artists, writers, and standardized test takers. Shipped with their shavings and a 'certificate of sharpening', these extra-sharp pencils make wonderful gifts."[6][7][8] His book, How to Sharpen Pencils, was released April 16, 2012.

...

Rees lives in Beacon, New York.[10] In 2010, Rees worked as a civil servant for the US Census Bureau, a position that engendered his interest in pencils.

I've read Rees's pencil-sharpening book. It's funny. The best, though, was when he guested on The Best Show on WFMU and answered listener questions about pencils with abundant knowledge and total earnestness.

The Cox–Zucker machine is an algorithm created by David A. Cox and Steven Zucker. This algorithm determines if a given set of sections provides a basis (up to torsion) for the Mordell–Weil group of an elliptic surface E → S where S is isomorphic to the projective line.

And on the talk page for the article you have these comments:

I thought it was bogus too, but click on the DOI in the reference list and you can see the published paper. Glorious, and as KarlM says, encyclopedic. Ngio (talk) 17:18, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

It's real, all right - Mr. Cox is my father, and he wrote the paper with Mr. Zucker specifically because it would be the "Cox-Zucker" paper. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.63.133.105 (talk) 07:55, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

That story is very similar to the story behind the famous and very useful Box-Cox transformation! They published together specifically because they thought their names sounded interesting together. Different David Cox, though.

henny youngman wikipedia entry

Henny had a grandson of note: Lawrence ["Larry"] Michael Kelly. Kelly spent much of his youth with Henny on the road following the death of Larry's father at an early age. While Kelly tried for many years to follow in his grandfather's footsteps he never managed to attain a following. Kelly struggled with a severe weight problem for his entire life regularly fluctuating between 250 to over 500 pounds. Despite not achieving fame for himself, he was a very astute judge of talent in others, and through his connections in Henny's world, Kelly was able to help promote the early careers of Sam Kinison, Louie Anderson, Roseanne Barr and several other notable personalities.[citation needed] Larry's numerous and ever changing enterprises included the running of one of the first computer bulletin boards in the world ("Modem Over Manhattan", a/k/a "M*O*M"),[citation needed] as well as obtaining Henny's partnership with the nascent [owner-profit shared] "Dial-A-Joke" telephone service.[citation needed] Kelly's last venture was a small banana bread business in Woodstock called "Top Banana". From 1992 until his death, Kelly co-hosted a local public-access television show called The Village Green, with then future Woodstock councilman Gordon Wemp. The cause of Kelly's death remains unknown today.[citation needed]

Greg Burson (voiceover artist who did Bugs Bunny, Yogi Bear and others during the 1990s) :(

Arrest
His career came to an end in May 2004 when Burson was arrested by detectives after barricading himself inside his home in Tujunga for six hours before surrendering. Initial reports have claimed that an armed S.W.A.T. team had responded to a call from two of his female roommates that he was inebriated, armed and holding a third female roommate hostage.[2] Burson also screamed a stream of nonsensical words at the police when they were alerted to his home. Officers had later discovered that Burson had a collection of guns in his home. One officer says "He was so drunk, we couldn't tell if he was trying to do one of his voices or was just slurring his words." Officer Rudy Villarreal has confirmed all three women were involved in the incident lived with Burson, but none of them were harmed.

Album reception

- It was included in Q Magazine's 50 Heaviest Albums of All Time.

- In a 1997 interview between journalist Liz Jones and Prince, Jones tells Prince he should listen to Tricky, because Tricky reminds her of Prince in his early career. Intrigued, Prince asks her the name of Tricky's latest album, she says "Pre-Millennium Tension" and Prince spontaneously answers "well, isn't that another way to say ‘1999’" (1999 being Prince's breakthrough album released in 1982.) This interview is featured in Liz Jones' book "Slave to the Rhythm."

These are the only two facts in the section.
