The LA Times piece, one of many over the past few weeks, harassed me onto Twitter.

Both Gradski and Passantino are now on Twitter - proof that it has indeed jumped the shark.

Actually, I should set up a separate Butteztwitter. It would work in the format.

ok, so, no one seems to know this. if you reply to someone who isn't following you, and your own twitter is locked, can they still see that reply?
― lex pretend, Friday, 27 March 2009 13:33 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah was wondering too. they probably do. otherwise aplusk isn't getting my messages. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP hahahah

If you reply to someone who isn't following you = they don't see it unless the click on the Replies link.
I quite like twitter.

^ Yes, this is brilliant.

If they're using TweetDeck they see it. At least, I do: I've had a couple of replies from people who've seen stuff on the public feed or via a search, and they've shown up in TD.

Dunno! Never locked mine. I'd be surprised if it made any difference ...
... but if your updates are protected, why would someone you're not following reply to you anyway? That'd be weird.
Actually, Lex, hang on: I don't follow you, do I? (Which is an oversight on my part: a Lex Twitterfeed would be good). So let's test this out. Send me a reply to @weesimon and I'll see if I can see it. (NB: post here when you've done it! Oh, and I'm going out soon, so this isn't going to work so well if you're not about.)

Also, yes, this isn't the point: not sure why I posted this.

Twitter seems like a silly fad to me. But I am a sour-dispositioned old fogey who doesn't even carry a cell phone, so my thoughts on it are not relevant.

Paul Pierce is following me on Twitter. Weird.
― EZ Snappin, Monday, 30 March 2009 19:38 (fifteen years ago) link
A small hungry-looking dog has been following me, but that's only because of the bologna in my back pocket. Maybe Paul Pierce is attracted for a similar reason. But that's just a guess.
― Aimless, Monday, 30 March 2009 19:53 (fifteen years ago) link
It must be the prosciutto I had at lunch.
― EZ Snappin, Monday, 30 March 2009 20:22 (fifteen years ago) link
okay here's what bugs me, maybe it's easily fixable, but certain accounts i would like to follow are 75% replies to other comments, and since i don't see the original comment there's absolutely no context and it's totally unintelligible.

― James Mitchell, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 20:15 (fifteen years ago) link
Who is @ev? I saw Rainn Wilson asked him "can I go yet" and mentioned a board meeting so I thought he was an Office staffer, but your mention of him makes me think otherwise...

― cutty, Saturday, 11 April 2009 16:50 (fifteen years ago) link
It's really fucking annoying me as well. I'm trying to think of a way I can make it stop looping the same posts over and over again without actually deleting my account.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 11 April 2009 19:32 (fifteen years ago) link
What the fuck? I'm intrigued.
― a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Saturday, 11 April 2009 19:36 (fifteen years ago) link
Essentially every Twitter post I have made since about lunchtime yesterday is going out again and again and again at regular intervals, like I'm in some kind of perpetual time loop. And there appears to be no way of stopping it. I apologise to anyone who's actually following me - I am aware that what I had for dinner yesterday isn't that interesting. Especially the eighth time around.
Judging by this, it seems to be a problem with people updating from Vodafone in the UK.

Yes a 12-year old feral hoodie type cycled up alongside me in the park, looked directly at me, said "faggot" and then cycled off. It was funny at the time but probably would not have Twittered it had I known it was going to be endlessly repeated.
