If someone offers your band it's own rollercoaster I say you take it critics be damned.

Beautiful day. About to get phineas and ferb autographs.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 16:06 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, Florida has had heart-stopping weather the last 48 hours.

Christmas decorations going up.

Star tours now.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 16:32 (nine years ago) link

The new Star Tours is awesome. I think it might've honestly been my girlfriend's favorite ride from any of the parks. And I think I read that there's something insane like 50 different movies for the ride now? We rode it 3 or 4 times and it was different every time.

Uncle Tim at 50s Prime Time Cafe kind of freaking out the kids.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 17:11 (nine years ago) link

their routine is noxious. I like the Tune-In Lounge though.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 November 2014 17:13 (nine years ago) link

i'm totally living vicariously through these posts!

also the new star tours is very cool, but I s2g i've ridden it 10 times over 2 visits and got the jar-jar sequence 8 times.

My deepest condolences.

Getting so full we're starting to skip meals.

One daughter's birthday here, cast is super about it.

Yo, if you get hungry again, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater is the jam

Also, the engineer working with Aerosmith in the opening hologram skit is the State's Dan Marino

Really?didn't look like him. Biggest concession I have seen to frozen, by the way, has been a giant gift shop and a little play a lot filled with fake snow.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 18:40 (nine years ago) link

I bet Christmas will be all frozen, all the time.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 18:40 (nine years ago) link

Is the Haunted Mansion decked out holiday style?

Delbert Gravy (kingfish), Monday, 3 November 2014 18:45 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, I was honestly baffled by the complete dearth of Frozen merchandise at WDW this spring. It felt like the memo about the film's massive success hadn't trickled down to the parks division yet.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 18:49 (nine years ago) link

They are redoing maelstrom at Epcot into a frozen ride.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 18:49 (nine years ago) link

I heard about that. Pretty disappointing, honestly. I love the Maelstrom, as lame as it is.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 18:51 (nine years ago) link

i'm pretty sure the frozen meet and greet at disneyland has the longest line out of either park.

a bit off topic but there were a ton of elsas trick-or-treating on halloween. I complimented one little girl on her elsa costume and she gave me the dirtiest look and said "I'm CINDERELLA!" it's a tough year for other blonde princesses in blue dresses.

you little affront to god (reddening), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:05 (nine years ago) link

yo, when i went on my disney trip earlier this year, the line to meet the frozen princesses at EPCOT was, i was told, six hours long

stop looking at me, quan (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:12 (nine years ago) link

thanks for the confidence, guys

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:13 (nine years ago) link

Frozen meet and greets I think the most popular fast pass.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 19:29 (nine years ago) link

Hollywood Studios is kind of aimless and reduntant, but it's a nice day anyway.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 19:36 (nine years ago) link

some person or animal took a crap in the street, and then someone or something smeared at for about 10 feet. They had to block the area.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 19:40 (nine years ago) link

I'm staying in Wilderness Lodge in December: four nights and four days, including tea party, early morning magic hour, princesses, and pixie dust.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:42 (nine years ago) link

I'll let my niece lend you some of her costumes.

things lose meaning over time (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:43 (nine years ago) link

oh i see we've covered this above

things lose meaning over time (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:44 (nine years ago) link

I really want to stay at Ft. Wilderness Lodge for at least part of our next trip. I've been treating the lodging as an incidental (and inexpensive as possible) afterthought but everything feels kinda anticlimactic once the day is over.

I really enjoy these 15 minute live distillations of Disney movies. Beauty and the Beast was sweet, my younger one loved Mermaid.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 20:22 (nine years ago) link

On the downside they were going to charge us to cancel Brown Derby, so light apps and drinks it is.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

Have you seen/are you planning on seeing Fantasmic? I just saw it for the first time this year and I think kids would love it. Or be terrified by it. Or both.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 20:28 (nine years ago) link

But GO EARLY. And hang on to your kids for dear life. The pre-show waiting area is the most densely-packed crowd I experienced anywhere in the parks.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 20:30 (nine years ago) link

Toy story game ride was great! Fantasmic tonight.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 20:48 (nine years ago) link

there is a nativity scene up!

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 20:54 (nine years ago) link

Don't know where the hidden Mickeys would be in there.

Now, in the Good Friday scene, I'd have an idea...

Actual overheard one sided phone conversation behind us at Indiana Jones:

I think I walked 15,0000 steps, so like 7 miles. Yeah, it's pretty good exercise. Huh? I'm voting for jeb bush. Jeb bush for president. Make it three Bushes. Uh huh. How are the http://images.chron.com/blogs/askacat/hatcat.JPG doin'?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 02:05 (nine years ago) link

definitely ken marino

$0.00 Butter sauce only. No marinara. (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 03:26 (nine years ago) link

Early start for breakfast, then Animal Kingdom, the best designed park.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 11:53 (nine years ago) link

Third language of Fantasmic announcement last night was Portuguese. I wonder if they can tell that is the third most popular language that particular day?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 13:21 (nine years ago) link

Everest currently broken!

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 14:56 (nine years ago) link

That's a bummer. My favorite ride in all of the parks, hands down. It was down for a while when we were there, too, so maybe things will turn around.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 15:03 (nine years ago) link

they have been pretty good getting them up and running again.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 15:04 (nine years ago) link

Still down. I smartly sat out Kali rapids, and am only dry one.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 15:30 (nine years ago) link

good move. Make sure to hit the dinosaur dark ride, probably my fav extant dark ride from the last time i was there…which was ages ago

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 16:22 (nine years ago) link

"Back in my day, we rode dinosaurs in the dark at amusement parks. That was ages ago."

pplains, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 16:34 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, Dinosaur is rad. That pseudo-coaster technology they use is amazing and should be more widespread (I think the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland is similar?).

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 16:59 (nine years ago) link

My older one chickened out at Everest, but the 7 year old was totally game.

They both hated Dinosaur.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 17:45 (nine years ago) link

Philistines!

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 17:46 (nine years ago) link

The Primeval Whirl is fun, too, if not exactly the type of ride you go to WDW for.
