And now the Snow White ride is temporarily kaput. What is going on today?

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 2 November 2014 21:54 (nine years ago) link

We are literally stuck in the Carousel of Progress.

fortunately i could listen to "there's a great big beautiful tomorrow" on loop forever, it is the most ominous song in the world

difficult listening hour, Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:05 (nine years ago) link

I think I'd lose my mind if I were stuck in carousel

Free Me's Electric Trumpet (Moodles), Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:06 (nine years ago) link

Of progress!

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:09 (nine years ago) link

kind of a strange oxymoron innit

difficult listening hour, Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:10 (nine years ago) link

Like the new fantasyland stuff! Great design. Also, found $100!

that should cover about 2% of your visit!

I dunno. (amateurist), Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:17 (nine years ago) link

Honestly, we had them put it in an envelope to leave at guest services. If it is not claimed at the end of the day, I think we get to keep it.otherwise, I have a feeling Disney will be making another hundred dollars profit from us.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:22 (nine years ago) link

My nieces will wear princess dresses during my December visit. Leave the $100 for me, Josh.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:45 (nine years ago) link

I should try that next time.

"Anyone leave a $100 bill up here? Where did I lose it? Well, if I remembered that, I probably wouldn't have lost it in the first place!"

pplains, Sunday, 2 November 2014 22:58 (nine years ago) link

It was a 50, two 20s and some ones, FYI.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 2 November 2014 23:30 (nine years ago) link

The rides kept turfing out when we were at WDW this spring, too. I think everything at Animal Kingdom was on the fritz. And my girlfriend was freaked out enough about her first ride ever on Space Mountain without having to ponder what was causing the queue to stall for twenty minutes.

Hollywood Studios today, where I will be reminded that Disney owns everything but the Smurfs.

Fast pass was essential yesterday, as was the system that allows one parent to wait with a reticence kid, then ride immediately when the other parent returns.also, starting early is key.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 12:43 (nine years ago) link

Why does stupid Aerosmith get a ride?

Saw a kid freak the hell out at tower of terror, so badly he wouldn't take the exit elevator out!

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 14:36 (nine years ago) link

I've heard rumors for years that they're going to replace Aerosmith with a more contemporary band. I look forward to the 2025 opening of Green Day's Rock N' Roller Coaster.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 15:03 (nine years ago) link

I am enjoying the play-by-play here, I'm so jealous! We used to get a condo at Lake Buena Vista regularly as a kid. I loved that place!

Threat Assessment Division (I M Losted), Monday, 3 November 2014 15:15 (nine years ago) link

xp a ride wherein you walk a lonely road. and with each step, it only becomes clearer that you are, in fact, alone. then animatronic billie joe armstrong says your name at the end: "keep walking that lonely road, Darrel. it's the only one you've ever known, Darrel."

$0.00 Butter sauce only. No marinara. (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 3 November 2014 15:19 (nine years ago) link

Maybe during "Knowledge," they'll bring up members of the crowd and let them operate the roller coaster.

pplains, Monday, 3 November 2014 15:29 (nine years ago) link

I remember seeing the press conference for the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (because of course there was a press conference for the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster), and someone asked Steven Tyler if this constituted a sellout move on Aerosmith's part. Tyler naturally got pretty defensive and said something like, "This ain't no corporate slick-dealin' Hollywood showbiz thing. [dramatic pause] This is the Aerosmith Rock 'n' Roller Coaster."

Got it. One of those underground counterculture amusement park rides.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 3 November 2014 15:44 (nine years ago) link

TBF, it's the best thing they've had their name attached to in 30+ years.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 15:53 (nine years ago) link

It's presented by Hanes.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 16:04 (nine years ago) link

If someone offers your band it's own rollercoaster I say you take it critics be damned.

Beautiful day. About to get phineas and ferb autographs.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 16:06 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, Florida has had heart-stopping weather the last 48 hours.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 November 2014 16:09 (nine years ago) link

Christmas decorations going up.

Star tours now.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 16:32 (nine years ago) link

The new Star Tours is awesome. I think it might've honestly been my girlfriend's favorite ride from any of the parks. And I think I read that there's something insane like 50 different movies for the ride now? We rode it 3 or 4 times and it was different every time.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 16:34 (nine years ago) link

Uncle Tim at 50s Prime Time Cafe kind of freaking out the kids.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 17:11 (nine years ago) link

their routine is noxious. I like the Tune-In Lounge though.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 November 2014 17:13 (nine years ago) link

i'm totally living vicariously through these posts!

also the new star tours is very cool, but I s2g i've ridden it 10 times over 2 visits and got the jar-jar sequence 8 times.

Getting so full we're starting to skip meals.

One daughter's birthday here, cast is super about it.

Really?didn't look like him. Biggest concession I have seen to frozen, by the way, has been a giant gift shop and a little play a lot filled with fake snow.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 18:40 (nine years ago) link

I bet Christmas will be all frozen, all the time.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 18:40 (nine years ago) link

Is the Haunted Mansion decked out holiday style?

Delbert Gravy (kingfish), Monday, 3 November 2014 18:45 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, I was honestly baffled by the complete dearth of Frozen merchandise at WDW this spring. It felt like the memo about the film's massive success hadn't trickled down to the parks division yet.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 18:49 (nine years ago) link

They are redoing maelstrom at Epcot into a frozen ride.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 18:49 (nine years ago) link

I heard about that. Pretty disappointing, honestly. I love the Maelstrom, as lame as it is.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 18:51 (nine years ago) link

i'm pretty sure the frozen meet and greet at disneyland has the longest line out of either park.

a bit off topic but there were a ton of elsas trick-or-treating on halloween. I complimented one little girl on her elsa costume and she gave me the dirtiest look and said "I'm CINDERELLA!" it's a tough year for other blonde princesses in blue dresses.

you little affront to god (reddening), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:05 (nine years ago) link

yo, when i went on my disney trip earlier this year, the line to meet the frozen princesses at EPCOT was, i was told, six hours long

stop looking at me, quan (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:12 (nine years ago) link

thanks for the confidence, guys

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:13 (nine years ago) link

Frozen meet and greets I think the most popular fast pass.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 19:29 (nine years ago) link

Hollywood Studios is kind of aimless and reduntant, but it's a nice day anyway.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 19:36 (nine years ago) link

some person or animal took a crap in the street, and then someone or something smeared at for about 10 feet. They had to block the area.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 November 2014 19:40 (nine years ago) link

I'm staying in Wilderness Lodge in December: four nights and four days, including tea party, early morning magic hour, princesses, and pixie dust.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:42 (nine years ago) link

I'll let my niece lend you some of her costumes.

things lose meaning over time (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:43 (nine years ago) link

oh i see we've covered this above

things lose meaning over time (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:44 (nine years ago) link

I really want to stay at Ft. Wilderness Lodge for at least part of our next trip. I've been treating the lodging as an incidental (and inexpensive as possible) afterthought but everything feels kinda anticlimactic once the day is over.

Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 November 2014 19:48 (nine years ago) link

I really enjoy these 15 minute live distillations of Disney movies. Beauty and the Beast was sweet, my younger one loved Mermaid.
