MARBLE MADNESS II: THE AWAKENING

forksclovetofu, Thursday, 1 March 2007 02:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah. Damn, I have to get a wii now, if that ever gets released here. That game is like the spiritual successor to Marble Madness that I've been hoping for for years now.

Z S, Thursday, 1 March 2007 23:38 (seventeen years ago) link

s1locki did you ever get a wii? i wanna know if they're avail. in the city yet

Will M., Friday, 2 March 2007 16:22 (seventeen years ago) link

hahaha i put the 1 and the L.

Will M., Friday, 2 March 2007 16:22 (seventeen years ago) link

there's like two more marble-madness type games where you move the environment around a roly-poly protagonist, from the Elebits team at konami where you're a water droplet and something else from somewhere else that I forgot

the title of this thread hurts me in my heart

brexit through the rift shock (bizarro gazzara), Thursday, 14 July 2016 17:50 (seven years ago) link

xp. im totally buying this gimmicky thing.

jim in vancouver, Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:13 (seven years ago) link

uuugh i'm gonna buy that stupid thing i think.

Nhex, Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:44 (seven years ago) link

I expect my son will be all over this, looks like a good deal

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:45 (seven years ago) link

they are going to sell so many of these

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:54 (seven years ago) link

I think a pre-order is in order.

jim in vancouver, Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:54 (seven years ago) link

why not just download an emulator for free and get a USB NES controller

best beloved trumppence (crüt), Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:55 (seven years ago) link

you can't even play Klax on that thing

best beloved trumppence (crüt), Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:55 (seven years ago) link

*extreme nerd voice* wonder about the upscaling

mh, Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:58 (seven years ago) link

why not just download an emulator for free and get a USB NES controller

why not do both

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:59 (seven years ago) link

this is meant as a xmas present almost certainly and is going to be the hot gift

thrusted pelvis-first back (ulysses), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:02 (seven years ago) link

and after two months, it will join my ouya in storage

thrusted pelvis-first back (ulysses), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:02 (seven years ago) link

so aside from the built-in games, does this (only?) play old cartridges?

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:03 (seven years ago) link

doesn't play cartridges at all by my understanding! just plug and play.

thrusted pelvis-first back (ulysses), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:03 (seven years ago) link

I think the whole thing is cartridge-sized? idk

mh, Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:03 (seven years ago) link

yeah it just plays these 30 games, basically just a little box with a NES emulator in it.

jim in vancouver, Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:07 (seven years ago) link

oh word. i still have most of those cartridges and a couple ways to play them (bootleg 'FC Twin' NES + SNES, old NES). but a tiny emulator with most of my favorite games is tempting.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:10 (seven years ago) link

ftr it's 60 bucks, hdmi ready and comes with a wireless nes controller and the following

Balloon Fight, Bubble Bobble, Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Double Dragon II: The Revenge, Dr. Mario, Excitebike, Final Fantasy, Galaga, Ghosts' N Ghoblins, Gradius, Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, Kirby's Adventure, Mario Bros., Mega Man 2, Metroid, Ninja Gaiden, Pac-Man, Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream, StarTropics, SUPER C, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Tecmo Bowl, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

thrusted pelvis-first back (ulysses), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:11 (seven years ago) link

that is an undeniably solid lineup

a mini-snes would be amazing

brexit through the rift shock (bizarro gazzara), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:14 (seven years ago) link

hasn't there been a Sega Genesis version of this for years?

still I expect this to sell out and go for double the price come December

frogbs, Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:15 (seven years ago) link

SNES version should cost seven thousand dollars and only contain Shaq-Fu and Bébé's Kids

best beloved trumppence (crüt), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:21 (seven years ago) link

It's got a majority of ILX's top 20 3rd-gen (aka top 20 NES) games, but it's missing a few:

#6: Contra (although Super C is there)
#9: Ducktales
#11: River City Ransom
#12: Bionic Commando
#13: Tetris
#17: TMNT II
#19: Super Dodge Ball

xp neither of those games have even been nominated for the 4th gen poll crut, get on it

a simba man (Will M.), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:22 (seven years ago) link

I'd be more inclined to get it if it included 3-D Worldrunner and RC Pro-Am, my two favorite nes games.

socka flocka-jones (man alive), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:24 (seven years ago) link

Roman Catholic Pro-Am

jim in vancouver, Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:25 (seven years ago) link

assume it's regular and not Tyson's Punch-Out bc of licensing considerations.

socka flocka-jones (man alive), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:25 (seven years ago) link

yup, the reprint was "with Mr Dream"

a simba man (Will M.), Thursday, 14 July 2016 19:27 (seven years ago) link

Tetris and Contra were the noticeable omissions. wonder what the licensing situation is for Tetris these days.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Thursday, 14 July 2016 20:18 (seven years ago) link

contra was better, and somewhat easier, than super c iirc?

jim in vancouver, Thursday, 14 July 2016 20:22 (seven years ago) link

was hoping for RC Pro Am

mh, Thursday, 14 July 2016 20:35 (seven years ago) link

yeah that's definitely a disappointment to go with Super C over Contra

Nhex, Thursday, 14 July 2016 20:36 (seven years ago) link

rc pro am was so awesome

calstars, Thursday, 14 July 2016 20:40 (seven years ago) link

i'll never not think of it as 'roman catholic pro-am' now, thanks jim

brexit through the rift shock (bizarro gazzara), Thursday, 14 July 2016 20:43 (seven years ago) link

would y'all rather get the mini-nes or this gold-plated revival?

― mh, Thursday, 14 July 2016 18:58
