I love Caribou Vibration Ensemble which I guess is in this territory especially with Marshall Allen onboard.
Other than that I think it's mainly Sun Ra.though I must find my copy of that Don Ellis cd & Eddie Gale's Ghetto Music both of which are pretty great.
