i like mixtape messiah 3. apart from when he sings. was surprised to hear his little rant about how he doesnt really like or get inspired by music that much anymore though over the common beat... esp as just last time, he was saying how hip hop isnt dead etc.

Here's some awesome footage from the gig he did at the Hove festival here in Norway a few months ago. Yup. He's playing next to a barn.
Norway is apparently all the way gangsta. Good to know.

Was there really not a thread on "Ridin'" specifically? All I can find is it showing up in year-end countdowns.
Amazing song though. Got kind of killed by repeated plays but I remember hearing it for the first time, on the road from Atlanta to Athens after this big outdoor Flaming Lips/De La Soul show (the one that inspired this thread)...it came over the radio and we weren't really paying attention and gradually we were, and our conversation fell silent and we were kind of looking at each other like, holy shit, is that as good as I think it is? Always though the racial-profiling theme hit a little harder than you'd expect for a giant chart hit, and it gave the thing a good edge, on top of an obviously amazing hook and some solid rapping throughout. Also I love the really wobbly, weird intro, it's like the quiet windup for a sucker punch.
Then I spent a weekend dicking around with emily.s, watching the like twenty music channels on some jacked-up cable she'd inherited from a departed roommate, and the video was on constantly and gradually, any and everything we saw or heard was converted to the rhythm of the song. I can't really separate the track now from this spree of inspired in-jokes but that's not really Chamillionaire's fault.
