emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 10 October 2014 18:26 (nine years ago) link

'bacon's groove' and 'fuck all night' are my favorite on the record

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 10 October 2014 19:14 (nine years ago) link

'fuck all night' is a timeless quik anthem imo

Quik is so present.

longneck, Saturday, 18 October 2014 18:42 (nine years ago) link

"El's Interlude" (which sounds like a Here, My Dear outtake), "Puffin Da Dragon," and "Pet Semetary" is an awesome sequence.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 19 October 2014 19:52 (nine years ago) link

El's interlude sounds more like an i want you outtake imo which is how the first one sounded on rhythmalism too

i'm about three listens in and i did the first while jogging. it's good; I'm working my way into the finer points, but immediately i completely agree that:

quik's son should.... not be on this album

lol i was def wondering if he meant this as, my fans or criticizing me, or my fans have literally been replaced by music critics

deej loaf (D-40), Monday, 20 October 2014 00:14 (nine years ago) link

in my experience recommending Quik the latter

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 20 October 2014 00:26 (nine years ago) link

I have similar complaints about a couple of dick references, notably in "That Nigger's Crazy," but in that one at least he's playing to the expectations of his detractors.

"Hip-hop needs a banjo."

It took me quite some time to get to track three because I couldn't stop playing the banjo one.

i think the "palm trees... beautiful" also came from the same source
when that anecdote first came out, i was pretty floored that he used found footage to such amazing effect. it's a mark of great artistry.
