For our wedding we were very excited to call The Commons our home, however, a bad experience with The Beacon still sits in our memories. We were also very excited to invite our friends and family to join us there for a special getaway! The hotel is beautiful and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and we were proud to be able to offer the same for our guests. However, although everything about our wedding was so beautiful and amazing, our very last moments of the week spent at The Beacon still leave a bad taste in our memories. This is so sad that one experience can stick in our memories and this is why I feel compelled to actually write a review. After the night of our wedding our parents and close relatives all gathered at The Beacon for brunch. There were 12 of us total trickling in as we woke up and were excited to share one last time together as we all parted ways across the country (and world) and it would be awhile to see each other again. As my husband and I arrived the waitress greeted us very stressed saying "You must have a reservation! I can't handle people just coming in like this!". She continued to say short comments about how annoying this was and how it was all our fault. My in-laws feeling terrible about the stress this was causing her volunteered to sit apart from the group since it was "too difficult" for the waitress to move the 2 person table that sat right next to our table to allow them to sit. I was overwhelmed with the stress this was causing and the way it was making my guests feel and all the excitement of the night before quickly was forgotten as my guests and myself were trying to diffuse the situation. As my in-laws sat far away from us and my family sat in silence and shame that we were causing such a problem in the very not busy restaurant...I pulled the waitress aside. I told her how embarrassing this was that she was short with my guests, lecturing them, making them feel incredibly unwelcomed, and that they were being incredibly accommodating and she can just take her time and do the best she can. I have worked in the service industry for years, I know that feeling of being overwhelmed but we were the most chill group of 12 (which isn't that big and the restaurant was slow!). I asked her if she expected us to leave by all of her comments and if so, she should pull us aside and talk to me instead of announcing all the stress and snarky comments to my guests. I was so mortified. The manager came over after the waitress was able to calm down and just try her best. His first comments were to blame us and to ask for proof of a reservation! Again, mortified in front of my guests and shocked that this restaurant could not accommodate a chill group of 12 regardless of a reservation or not during a slow time. He did after me explaining how unprofessional this has all been and embarrassing offer my husband and I our meal free. The meals came out at completely random times (totally worth the waitress not scolding us though) and we continued to feel so awkward there. I just can't imagine doing that as a service industry to a group of people that were so happy to just have an nice chill breakfast together and after spending thousands of dollars at The Commons.

Her Yelp feed is full of joy:

****
I felt like I was in a fast-paced butcher shop--except for the arrival of my food--which was extremely slow for all the rush, chaos, and terrible service. Two waiters: one, even though I'm Indian-American, condescendingly, and with a smirk, tried to tell me that paneer is "cottage cheese." Thanks a lot--when I ask about a dish and his thoughts, I really want condescension. We ordered chai thrice the first time and they kept forgetting. Then the second waiter abruptly spilled a glass of red wine on me. Note: I didn't order any red wine--they brought me and my brother a glass to taste. We thought that was nice, but it wasn't very good, so we didn't drink much, and the very rude and abrupt waiter spilled it all over my new white AG cords and new suede shoes and pink cashmere shawl (yes, 100% cashmere). Samir, the manager, tried to make up for it and offered to pay for my dry cleaning, but it looks like the pants are totally ruined. My brother and husband just spent an hour trying to scrub out the stains, but it doesn't look good. Samir also offered us sparkling wine with dessert (didn't ever bring it), and the staff offered to bring club soda to put on the stains. My brother asked for it twice, but they forgot, and eventually we just wanted to get out of there so we could go home and try to salvage the pants and cashmere shawl. I went to Pippali hoping for a 1 hour dinner, but due to the drama of spilling wine and the very slow and forgetful service (even after they spilled red wine all over everything I was wearing), it was a 3.5 hour dinner. After this happened, the first waiter kept coming to our table and grabbing things we were still using--like half full wine glasses. When we asked him to stop, he mumbled something about not wanting the glasses to spill, with a smirk on his face, as if what they did before (I was covered in red wine was a joke). I felt that that service and the rude behavior was very insulting. I don't like people touching my glasses without asking me whether I want them removed--it's just dirty and leads to spillage like the red wine spill I've written about. I really never want to go back--but I'll be curious to see if Samir follows through on his promise to help me deal with the expensive ruined clothing. If so, I will update my review to reflect that. The vegetarian food was very mediocre. The tapioca appetizer was served to us cold. The kadi with it was delicious, though. The channa was totally boring and a bit greasy. Panner tikka had great texture, but no taste or spice, as if it never marinated and was just made on the spot spontaneously. My brother reports that the chicken dish he had was quite delicious. The naan was good and tasted fresh and was served hot. The chai was good the second time when we asked them to make asli masala chai with ginger, spice, and tea leaves. (the first time it was tastless).

In case you think only Indian waiters smirk at her, so do racist waxers:

"I was 7 minutes late for an appointment, and the woman at the front desk, with a smirk on her face, told me I was 9 minutes late and she was canceling my appointment. I tried to show her my phone, but she refused to look and said she was going by her computer's time. (which if true, was wrong) I told her that I know their policy is if you are OVER 9 minutes late, they try to fit you in but sometimes they have to cancel, but I was only 7 late. She smirked and said that she has the "authority" (yes, she used that word) to cancel my appointment, so she's going to. I asked her to please talk to the woman doing my waxing and see if she would take me, and this woman, Courtney, refused and again said, "I have the authority to make that decision." I was very upset. First of all, when I came in the first time, the women at the front desk demanded to see my ID to "make sure you live in the area." I am a woman of color, they are all white. I let it go because the waxing was decent. The one woman of color who worked there and did my waxing confirmed that they're all racist."

Searching for "rolled her eyes" turns up some great material, like this one, which has algebra at one point:

My ice tea was never empty that's the only reason I'm giving one star. My friend and I ordered our steaks medium. The steaks had been left on the grill for 5 minutes past well done. Leather style. I explained the steak issue with the Waitress. She rudely asked me how much of my steak I had consumed. I told her 1 bite and that it was only a 6oz steak. My friends chimed in as well and pointed out an exact overdone replica on my friends plate. The same size and missing one bite as well. The waitress rolled her eyes and said she would have my steak remade. She went to grab my plate, I asked nicely if she could please just take the steak so that I could continue eating. She didn't say a word, her attitude was fast tracking downhill. She rolled her eyes and was off to get a plate from the kitchen. She huffed off to the kitchen without a word. The only noise that was heard from the waitress as she walked to the kitchen was an I'm irritated sigh. I jumped up and walked right behind her with my plate so I could give it to her. She disappeared into the kitchen. I handed my plate to another waiter with everything on it (besides 3 shrimp, 3 bites of mash potatoes etc) . I no longer wanted the plate of food, I didn't want any thing from this waitress.

She came Back from the kitchen with a small plate to get my steak. She noticed that my whole plate had disappeared. I explained to her that I didn't like her attitude or her eye rolling and that I had given the plate to another waiter. She said that she would have another plate made. I told her that I did not want anything.

She explained to the 6 people in my party that many patrons of the restaurant were upset because their orders were not coming out of the kitchen accurately and their steaks were over cooked also. We were discussing the food etc. with our neighbors at the next table. She apologized several times after she realized how her treatment affected me. Maybe she was so rude because she had to deal with so many complaints about the food???

She treated me like I had eaten half my steak. Like I was lying! How big is a 6oz burnt overdone jerky steak with one bite missing?!? 1S-(6*0)= -1S

Needless to say I was able to eat my appetizer some chips and guacamole, shrimp, a few bites of my side dishes and drink a lot of iced tea. The other person in our party that had also ordered a steak had received a 6oz overdone piece of jerky and was not offered another steak until we were being given the bill. The waitress could see that my friends steak was also overdone, untouched and it's only use was to support a fork in an upright position.

I was comped my dinner, and an appetizer. Worth $80.00 for 6 people??? I don't think so. Not with the attitude and overdone steaks. Two for $20. We skipped out on our desserts.

----------

We arrived to this restaurant around 5:15pm on a Monday night. It was understandably empty considering how early it was. We had a group of 10 and were waiting on one person. Everyone was starving and ready to begin ordering. The hostess refused to seat us, stating that we MUST have our entire party present first. We waited 15 minutes (time we we would have spent ordering drinks and sushi) and still were not seated. Finally we just said the guy wasn't coming since we were tired if waiting. Once sat, a server came up to take our order. I asked her a question about the fish, which she answered with an annoyed look (keep in mind the restaurant is still relatively empty). I asked another question and the server ROLLED HER EYES at me! Extremely rude. I heard later that she also rolled her eyes at the others in our group. When our final person finally arrived with a friend, they refused to put them at our table even though we had room! The whole thing was extremely bazaar. Everyone in our party was unhappy. The customer service was atrocious! We will NOT be returning.

I absolutely cannot believe that with all the lousy reviews here regarding service dating back to 2010, that the management hasn't jumped down the servers throats about good service! As a business owner, I know that you live and die by the customer's opinion of you, and with so much competition in every market you need to know your employees are representing you to their best ability.

My wife and I regularly frequent Tap House just a block or two away, but felt like trying a new place. We pass IB&G every day, and it looked decent with a big building and nice patio w/ outdoor fireplace. So we stopped in for lunch and sat at a table- bar tables and stools only, no booths or regular chairs (obviously they don't want anyone getting too comfortable). I asked the server what was on tap, and her eyes literally rolled up into her head and she pointed at the bar and said "They're all over there." FIVE BEERS WERE ON TAP!!! She couldn't memorize 5 beers! Being used to Tap House's 30 selections on tap, I was a bit disappointed. I was especially disappointed when my Guiness came in a dirty glass with a small piece of food on the rim.

The menu seemed incredibly slight and not very imaginitive compared to other local bar/grills. My wife wanted to try the chicken strips, which were only on the kid's menu so she asked how big they were. THE SERVER ROLLED HER EYES AGAIN!!! and told us she was new here and hadn't seen them yet. Okay honey, that excuse will only get you so far- go find out how big they are, don't just tell us you don't know. We waited over 1/2 hour for lunch (no one else was eating and there was only 2 other patrons drinking at the bar), and they only brought my food. When we asked about my wife's food, the cook said "Oh there was supposed to be chicken strips too?" When our server brought out the strips, she apologized and said she didn't know what happened. I almost said "Well, there's a very limited chain of communication here, and since I didn't order from the cook, I'm guessing you screwed it up." But I'm passive-aggressive, so I gave a 10% tip and wrote on the receipt of our dissatisfaction.

To spare numerous details regarding interactions that occurred with the same manner as the above here is a list of why the service in this place sucked...

1. Took 15 mins for the server to take our drink orders
2. Took another 15 mins to get drink orders
3. When we asked for water, the server rolled her eyes and said "Fine".
4. Time we were sat to the time our dinner order was taken = 40 mins
5. My wife asked for butter, server responded with rolled eyes and attitude
6. Server was overwhelmed and running behind all night
a. waters empty
b. few check-ins
c. frustrations when we asked for things
d. long wait
7. Server came back several times right after having a cigarette, reeking of smoke
8. Paid with coupon, sever initially told us we couldn't use it, but then said "Fine you can use it, I just don't care tonight."

The place was not busy and there was no reason for the attitude and poor service. I've been here before and enjoyed it but after this experience I will not be returning.

I came here with my boyfriend for our 2 year anniversary with high hopes. We will never be returning. One of the cashiers in the food section was extremely rude, condescending, and had a serious attitude problem. We simply asked her for her opinion on which wine we should choose, and she told us that we were being "difficult." She rolled her eyes when we asked for her opinion on a wine-cheese pairing. She was very unwelcoming and made it seem as if she was doing us a favor by doing her job.

We will not be returning to a vineyard that puts so little value in customer service.

I'm the first real person to review this place, let all other fake spammers be gone! Yelp should really work that shizzle out. Zack S...um this place closes at 11 so you couldn't have possibly hit the bar...so yeah if your gonna post fake reviews at least check your facts..

This place has so much potential, yet the ridiculously bad service just overshadowed everything good they did.

This is probably the worst service I have ever received in my life.

Do you guys remember in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts goes into the first store on Rodeo and the snooty lady acts like she's too good for this place? Well that's what they did to us.

Where's the hostess? Oh she's chatting with her friend...*ignoring me*

We finally get seated and then we sit and wait...

and wait...

and wait...

finally I get up and ask one of the waiters at the cash register to send over someone...

She treats us like we're a nuisance to her, she's singing along to the song that's playing...(WTF?) I think they turned up the music louder as more people left because by the time it was near closing time it was blaring hip hop music...really weird considering it was a nice casual Italian restaurant.

We order almost 200 bucks worth of food, and then she's like "is that it?"

excuse me bitch...watch the attitude...

Wait, wait, watch as all the waiters get together to talk about us...seriously I can see you whispering about us....this is so unprofessional right now....

We seriously waited for like an hour and a half, it was ridiculous! The place was practically empty! The waiters were standing around and chatting with each other. I took pictures as evidence!

This place is supposed to be a nice place, for the prices they charge they should have a whole restaurant re-staffed because it was ridiculous! I have never felt more uncomfortable and treated so rudely in my life!

I also wanted to order take out for later and apparently they don't have take out boxes? You're a restaurant? You don't have boxes? Seriously?

This is the worst experience in a restaurant I have ever had. I've gotten better service at Carls Jr in a shady neighborhood than this.

I won't hesitate to tell everyone to avoid this restaurant when you're in Vegas because this was outrageous! No one treats me like that and gets away with it! I wish I had a You've been yelped card so I could give them a piece of my mind.

I'm like those crazy housewives who have nothing better to do...I won't stop calling to speak to management until someone is fired. I'm serious, no one gets away with treating me like that without suffering repercussions. We don't play that, I'm sorry I'm not one of those quiet asian people who take your shit...I will not be silenced... You best believe. You're done..The end.
