Bill Barnwell @billbarnwell · 3h
Aaron Hernandez is starting in 0.3% of ESPN fantasy football leagues.

Bill Barnwell @billbarnwell · 2h
Randy Moss and Chad Johnson also starting in 0.3% of leagues. Tim Tebow at 0.4%. More than actual starting Cardinals TE John Carlson (0.1%).

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 17:01 (nine years ago) link

I wonder if those are reverse-points leagues like we tried one year where the lowest possible score is the winner.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 17:23 (nine years ago) link

in our low score league you had to play (poorly) to score points.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 17:28 (nine years ago) link

Oh that's right.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 17:37 (nine years ago) link

those are leagues where people don't know football and are going on last year's stats and name recognition

those 10/12th men who were dragged in by a buddy to fill the league out

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 18:31 (nine years ago) link

aaron hernandez gets 0.25 points for every successful shanking

in 2007 my friend drafted curtis martin in the 1st round, 2 years after he retired, and a decade after he played for NE, which was the reason he knew the name. 2nd round he drafted tom brady. brady had a decent year and my friend won that league.

to be fair, i question why curtis martin was still on the system to draft, but even so.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 18:39 (nine years ago) link

I think they keep "stars" around in the machinery for a couple seasons so they're available in case they un-retire. see: Tony Gonzalez, Brett Favre, etc.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 September 2014 19:32 (nine years ago) link

devin hester or golden tate at WR 3?

Mordy, Thursday, 2 October 2014 03:02 (nine years ago) link

this is a league that counts return yards which makes hester plausible

Mordy, Thursday, 2 October 2014 03:25 (nine years ago) link

gotta go with hester in that case

LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Thursday, 2 October 2014 03:29 (nine years ago) link

WTF I lost by 2 hundredths of a point! 126.13 to 126.11

DAMMIT

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 October 2014 04:43 (nine years ago) link

I didn't watch MNF, but I just read Percy Harvin had THREE tds nullified by penalty. FUCK FUCK FUCK if even one of them would've counted, it would be a win.

God I hate fantasy football.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 October 2014 04:53 (nine years ago) link

wait a day and see what the numbers shake out as. short victories like that often get erased by stat correction.

You may be right, but I haven't blown up with rage about anything else today. I had to find something.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 October 2014 05:33 (nine years ago) link

who woulda thunk andrew luck would be carrying me to 5 and 1
i'd like to thank my agent

Hey for next season I think we should maybe consider tinkering with the pt values for receiving yds/receptions and return yds. right now that a random return dude who gets 130 return yds is way more valuable than a WR who gets 130 receiving yds off of 8 receptions for example.

Or for another example I was just looking at my team and spiller had a pathetic 19 rushing yds and 50+ return yds, and he scored more pts for me than reed at TE, who had 8 catches for 92 yds. Not trying to rock the boat, and maybe it was discussed before and I missed it. And maybe there's a totally defensible reason for the way it is (I mean I kinda do like having random return dudes be heroes for a day.). I'm just putting it out there for 2015.

i've been so terrible in the ilx league but 2nd place in my local money league so plz help the winning streak continue:

At WR: Allen Robinson or Vincent Jackson?
At RB: Trent Richardson or Boobie Dixon or Antone Smith?

Mordy, Saturday, 25 October 2014 23:26 (nine years ago) link

Jeff Saturday: I'd never call him myself to bug him, because I'd hate to call in any friendly favors, but hopefully this article gets back to him so he knows I need him to throw it to Double-8s out there -- maybe 20-plus points or so? My team needs to pick it up, so that'd help a lot.

It's funny, though, in my year with the Packers I was in a fantasy league with the rest of the offensive line.

Berry: Wait ... you played while you were still in the league? That's hilarious. Any other Packers on the team or was it just the offensive line? You ever try to influence anything for your fantasy team?

Saturday: We didn't let anybody else in the league. It was our thing, you know? Just a good way for our position group to have fun together. But I had Aaron Rodgers on my team. So in the huddle sometimes I'd say, "Hey, we don't need to run the ball here, let's make sure we throw it in. My team needs some points!"

Berry: That is fantastic. Did Rodgers ever listen to you?

Saturday: Nah, he never would. This is our business we're talking about. But we did have fun with that league.

annoying I lost that 2nd place spot last minute

iatee, Thursday, 4 December 2014 18:05 (nine years ago) link

I won't be running the league next year, btw. Coupled with growing disinterest in the NFL and my poor fantasy track record, I just don't care enough anymore.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 December 2014 19:21 (nine years ago) link

hope you change your mind but thanks for taking care of it to this point either way
