Leee, I can email you the original .xls as a standalone file if you want, but I think you can also Save-As that google doc to your computer.

Malibu Stasi (WilliamC), Thursday, 18 September 2014 18:35 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, I was going to do a Save As once I get home.

Hakeem Olajuwon Howard (Leee), Thursday, 18 September 2014 18:37 (nine years ago) link

god bless the cloud

Malibu Stasi (WilliamC), Thursday, 18 September 2014 18:40 (nine years ago) link

Turns out I don't know how to use shot pivot table, so I wrote up a Perl script to handle these things. I can share it if anyone else is programmatically inclined.

Οὖτις, ready to roll XTC out?

it's taco science, but it works like taco magic (WilliamC), Monday, 29 September 2014 18:09 (nine years ago) link

Would there be much interest in a Steve Albini band poll?

nate woolls, Monday, 29 September 2014 18:18 (nine years ago) link

I'm not knowledgable enough for that one. Albini production jobs would be a great side poll though.

it's taco science, but it works like taco magic (WilliamC), Monday, 29 September 2014 22:00 (nine years ago) link

Yeah I was thinking the same. Add me to the list!

nate woolls, Monday, 29 September 2014 22:01 (nine years ago) link

Please.

nate woolls, Monday, 29 September 2014 22:02 (nine years ago) link

Οὖτις, ready to roll XTC out?

sure

I looked at the autechre thread to see if it was done but it was all gibberish

Οὖτις, Monday, 29 September 2014 22:18 (nine years ago) link

Nah it's just LJ going on. ;)

cichleee suite (Leee), Monday, 29 September 2014 23:16 (nine years ago) link

Can I do a Yellow Magic Orchestra one?? Please???

Maggie killed Quagmire (collest baby ever) (frogbs), Thursday, 2 October 2014 14:31 (nine years ago) link

YMO plus solo / collaboration tracks would a good one, although maybe a bit overwhelming.

めんどくさかった (Matt #2), Thursday, 2 October 2014 15:31 (nine years ago) link

but YMO alone is only like 7 albums and 70 tracks, plus of the 100+ solo albums there's only like 10 or so that I would imagine more than one or two balloters would know of...I think it's all fair game though

Maggie killed Quagmire (collest baby ever) (frogbs), Thursday, 2 October 2014 15:33 (nine years ago) link

I would vote in a YMO poll. Provided I was aware of it in time, I do miss a lot of these.

emil.y, Thursday, 2 October 2014 15:36 (nine years ago) link

Do you use Site New Answers or ILM New Answers?

it's taco science, but it works like taco magic (WilliamC), Thursday, 2 October 2014 17:32 (nine years ago) link

SNA, sometimes clicking over to a particular board. I'm often not interested/able to participate in the single artist ballot polls (my listening tends to the broad over the deep), so it's more that I glaze over the thread titles, rather than them not actually appearing when I'm online.

emil.y, Thursday, 2 October 2014 18:01 (nine years ago) link

same tbh

another problem is that a lot of the polls I'd enjoy simply don't have an existing fanbase. I could run the world's greatest Cardiacs & Affiliated poll, but it'd have 6 voters, so there's no point. The Autechre and XTC polls are extreme rarities in that they're ILX-popular AND I am quite a fan of both. /self-indulgent moan

Ƹ༑Ʒ (imago), Friday, 3 October 2014 15:41 (nine years ago) link

just be happy I'm not in your polls shitting them up with my blather ;)

Ƹ༑Ʒ (imago), Friday, 3 October 2014 15:42 (nine years ago) link

Albini and YMO to be added to the next full list.

it's taco science, but it works like taco magic (WilliamC), Friday, 3 October 2014 16:00 (nine years ago) link

I'd run an Elvis Presley poll sometime.

droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 3 October 2014 16:01 (nine years ago) link

Cool, you're added.

Who will run Iggy/Stooges? Step right up.

it's taco science, but it works like taco magic (WilliamC), Friday, 3 October 2014 16:04 (nine years ago) link

We should really do a Scott Walker / Walker Brothers poll, right? I'm not sure I have the knowledge or wherewithal to do it.

Shepard Toney Album (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 October 2014 10:50 (nine years ago) link

Elvis is a great idea

g simmel, Wednesday, 8 October 2014 11:20 (nine years ago) link

That'd be really interesting: no idea if the winner would be a Sun single, an early RCA single, or a late-'60s comeback single.

clemenza, Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:53 (nine years ago) link

"Elvis Talks To The Audience" ftw

You and Dad's Army? (C. Grisso/McCain), Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:58 (nine years ago) link

What's going to happen after XTC? Chic Org with a volunteer showrunner, Iggy/Stooges with a volunteer showrunner, or Boo OK and the Bee Radleys?

warning, #4 can't be unseen (WilliamC), Wednesday, 8 October 2014 22:26 (nine years ago) link

I think we need another Autechre poll.

cichleee suite (Leee), Wednesday, 8 October 2014 22:31 (nine years ago) link

someone really needs to step up and do Stooges/Iggy. i only know the Stooges and none of the solo stuff so i'm out.

Bee OK, Thursday, 9 October 2014 00:54 (nine years ago) link

I'll do a Byrds and offshoots poll which includes CSN, Gram Parsons, Gene Clark, And others I can't recall right now.

kornrulez6969, Thursday, 9 October 2014 13:09 (nine years ago) link

I'd like to see an Underworld one too. That would be a fun band to poll.

Maggie killed Quagmire (collest baby ever) (frogbs), Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:22 (nine years ago) link

That poll would be everything, everything.

Eric H., Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:58 (nine years ago) link

"Why don't you POLL me I feel like flying into.."

Mark G, Thursday, 9 October 2014 15:03 (nine years ago) link

I'd like to see a tropicalia/mpb poll, but I'm unsure if anybody would vote.

Frederik B, Thursday, 9 October 2014 15:07 (nine years ago) link

I'd vote!

sweet lids of the stars (seandalai), Thursday, 9 October 2014 23:33 (nine years ago) link

Shakey is burning through these XTC results with great haste. Whose poll is nominating next?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 15 October 2014 21:53 (nine years ago) link

Maybe you can get an answer out of somebody, I've gone all invisible.

warning, #4 can't be unseen (WilliamC), Wednesday, 15 October 2014 22:15 (nine years ago) link

Will someone send me a mail when it's time for me to start the Stereolab poll? Or any estimate dates?

Moka, Wednesday, 15 October 2014 22:26 (nine years ago) link

If no one steps in, I'm gonna slide my Pixies poll up.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 15 October 2014 22:28 (nine years ago) link

Spacemen? Chic? Spacemen Chic?

cichleee suite (Leee), Wednesday, 15 October 2014 22:51 (nine years ago) link

JF, no objection from me.

Leee, will your epics poll need a definitions/nominations thread? I wonder if that's something that could or should start now-ish or soonish so it's ready to go when the voting opens.

warning, #4 can't be unseen (WilliamC), Wednesday, 15 October 2014 23:07 (nine years ago) link

WC, yeah, the parameters of the epics poll need to be hashed out and I wouldn't be averse to opening that up for debate. However, I'd like a maybe another few weeks before I go through the process of curating another poll.

cichleee suite (Leee), Wednesday, 15 October 2014 23:42 (nine years ago) link

i can't do The Boo Radleys right now because of work. so i think that will be coming around February of 2015 after we do all the end of the year stuff.

Bee OK, Thursday, 16 October 2014 01:17 (nine years ago) link

ty

Bee OK, Thursday, 16 October 2014 04:33 (nine years ago) link

did you get mine?

Moka, Thursday, 16 October 2014 07:19 (nine years ago) link

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 16 October 2014 13:31 (nine years ago) link
