this new tune from the upcoming Obliterations record blitzed my brain the other day:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D38aT4BbvDs

Southern Lord's really getting into the thrash/crossover/punk/whatever thing with this, Power Trip, etc. i'm into it.

someone let me know if it's too indie and/or too anything for this thread...took me this long to notice, click and bookmark

Awesome. Shout-outs to Frau, Good Throb and Primetime. Rakta are coming here soon, they sound pretty great.

emil.y, Wednesday, 5 November 2014 13:57 (nine years ago) link

Have yet to hear Primetime, but I've seen Frau & Good Throb a couple of times and I've got Frau's demo and Good Throb's Fuck Off LP.

Oh meant to say really enjoyed Slum Of Legs on Friday night btw, wanted to buy the single but got distracted talking to Fizzles.

Primetime single is cool, also one of them bought an Ut record off me on Discogs

Thanks, CP! Sorry for shilling on the thread, but there are still some singles available from the Tuff Enuff website if you are still wanting one: https://riotsnotdiets.bandcamp.com/album/begin-to-dissolve

holy shit that obliterations record, thanks for the link

dan m, Wednesday, 5 November 2014 19:26 (nine years ago) link

Thanks Emily, ordered.

First night of Static Shock was cool, started off with 3 HC bands - Snob, Strong Boys, Arms Race all pretty good, then Diät and Rakta which were more post-punk. I got confused because they changed the running order, and thought Diät were called Rakta, and bought the Rakta album after Diät's set, so I was really hoping Rakta would be good after spending money on them! I didn't like them as much as Diät tbh but they were pretty good. I just made the last tube home but I'm working from home today so I didn't have to get up too early.

New video from The Yips (that I directed, but it's a genuinely great band) for a tune off their EP: http://bruisedtongue.bandcamp.com/album/air-loom

Self-described ouija rock, dark surf-y garage music.

never got round to checking these guys out until now but this new Pop. 1280 track is really good https://soundcloud.com/sacredbones/pop-1280-krank/s-bsOZd?mc_cid=a93011f1a2&mc_eid=2a28e84fe0

sounds like the kind of industrial/punk that would get smuggled into Kerrang circa 1993 hidden amongst Pantera and Terrorvision coverage

Definitely! This live video from 2013 has performances of a few other tracks from the new record ("Carolina", "Garbage", and "Electric Shock") plus I guess some other stuff that didn't make it. (Someone in the comments has helpfully added links to the individual songs.)

A belated discovery--their most recent release is from 2104--but I'm really digging Vancouver's Needles//Pins:

http://needlesxpins.bandcamp.com

(Shamebirds, that 2014 record, is prob a good place to start, but for a great bite-size chunk, check out the "Outta This Place"/"Date Night (You Bring the Napalm)" single.
